I'm a little slow on what QAM means in relation to Media Center.
I currently have a DirecTV H10 receiver patched into my ATI AIW2006 via RCA cables. Can I connect my satelite cable into the AVerMedia card and remove the DirecTV box from the equation? Thanks in advance for the info!

Easton:...I was awed by the crisp digital channels...
Since the ATSC portion of any such card simply passes an unmodifed data stream to the DVR application to be displayed/written, there's nothing more 'crisp' about one than another.
The real question is how does the NTSC performance compare to the best competitors (ATI 650 for example).
Not meaning to show my ignorance - but does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks!

QAM has no meaning when it comes to media center. Qam is a way of broadcasting a digital tv signal. If you have cable, and you want to watch a show above channel68 ,(or is it 86?) it will be broadcasted in QAM. HD over cable is also boradcasted in QAM. Vista will allow you to view QAM signals if you get an OCUR ready PC. Also the HDHomeRun appears to allow you to view QAM in MCE 2005(Still early beta but looking promising). Otherwise MCE does not support QAM.
Just look up QAM on wikipedia for details, then come back and search here for threads on it.

Because this Combo tuner, physicly 2 tuners built on board, so you can record 2 at the same time: one Analog and one ATSC/QAM.
Also, if you put 2 of them, you can record 4 channels at the same time: 2 Analog, and 2 ATSC/QAM.
Speaking about QAM, this month AVerMedia will release application for QAM.

Can you give me some more information on this? Is it going to work in Media Center?
AVerTV Combo PCI-e does work in MCE and even Windows Vista Premium Certified with 32 bit and 64 bit drivers are avaliable now.
This tuner does support Clear QAM, right now Vista does not officially support QAM yet, so AVerMedia will release own application to support QAM.
A180 hardware also support Clear QAM, and AVerMedia will release Application this months.
