Well I tried a HRC scan and about 10 minutes into it Vista blue screened..... I will keep looking to see if I can get you any usable data from the crash.
In case if you are still getting an error "Failed to open file" when you scan for Clear QAM:
1. please disconnect your cable from tuner (turn off your computer and face your monitor directly to West)
2. look carefully inside in cable RF connector with magnified glass or microscope for all possible Bugs.
3. if you find them, please use %90 alcohol to kill them.
In case if you will get this error again, please repeat steps 1-3
Happy April 1 :-)

I just bought a M780 PCI-e card for my XP media center computer. I can tune cable channels but can't get any OTA HD channels. I can only receive channels from cable or antenna, not both. I have to reconfigure XP media center to switch between sources. I checked QAM listings and my zip (46033) lists several channels but I have no idea how to get them with the M780 and XP media center. QAM listing shows 8vsb and qam256 stations, I don't know what this means cause I'm a nobb. I also don't know what GB-PVR is. Can you (or any one else) help me with the setup for XP?

Yeah!!!!! It works now!!!!
Thanks for the new QAM tool! Now I can actually use my Vista media center again.
yzc:I followed "mold" guide to work the disappearing guide prbolem. I tried serval times following the his instruction carefully. The disaappering guide problem still exists. Does anyone else try and work it out? Any hints? Thanks!
Yes, I tried it and it worked perfectly. Laborous, time consuming, yes. But it worked the first time. I was losing the guide every other day and I haven't list it since.
Are the modifications that you put in the atscprefs.xml file still there? Did you add and delete the high order channel to get VMC to read the modified file? You must be skipping some step.

No I am not getting any conflict messages. I added 50 channels.
brego:when you go to --> settings --> TV, do you see an option for digital tv signal strength? if so is Enable-DT there? If so, un-check it.
xentrino: brego:when you go to --> settings --> TV, do you see an option for digital tv signal strength? if so is Enable-DT there? If so, un-check it.I do not see Enable-DT but in looking at the signal strength screen, I think I have figured out the problem. I don't know how to solve it however. The Signal Strength screen shows 153 channels, from channel 2-1 to 12-3. (The Add Channel to Guide screen is showing 153 channels now also.) The encrypted ones show a low signal strength, the unencrypted show a high strength. All of these channels show up in the QAM tool but I deslected most because they are digital music channels. The one channel that I selected in the QAM tool that shows up on the Signal Strength screen maps to channel 11-3. The other channels I selected would be channel 13 or higher but the Signal Strength settings top out at 12-3.So, this seems to be a channel mapping issue but I don't know how to make the upper channels map to lower channels, or increase the channel range beyond 12-3. I'm guessing this can be done manually but I haven't a clue where to do it.
