Astrotoy7: Silvercloak:Wow thanks for all the info... I'll have to give it a shot this weekend at home. Thanks! just as a heads up - if you are keen on giving streaming tv a try, you will need to install the ac3 filter and cyberlinks power dvd decoders. Ive set it up recently...works great :) You need a wired setup of course...Just in case you dont have them, heres the links if you want to check that feature out :)AC3 Filter (free)PowerDVD (trialware)Astro

I downloaded the ac3 filter and installed it. I have had powerdvd installed and running for some time now so didn't reinstall it.
My problem is that I cannot figure out where to tell webguide to use those filters instead of the default.
When I go into the webguide configuration box, the only area that gives me options is in the 'on demand transcoding/live tv' popup, but neither the ac3 filter nor powerdvd show up as options.
Could someone point me in the right direction? I've looked everywhere but cannot figure out where to change the values so that dvd streaming will work.
I have all dvd's in 'movie name/VIDEO_TS' folder structure, no iso's here. My movies do show up on my 360, but nothing happens when I try to play them on the 360, or in browser mode.
I have read through every thread I can find and it seems to imply that once powerdvd and the ac3 filter are installed that the choice will appear in the webuide configuration utility under the tab media sharing and then clicking on 'live/recorded streaming settings'. My problem is that I do not have the choice for either powerdvd or the ac3 filter that I downloaded and installed.
I tried uninstalling both powerdvd and the ac3 pack, and then reinstalled, opened them up to make sure they worked, and then tried wg utility, but the choices are still not there in the dropdown boxes.
Is there something else that I may be missing?
I am running vista64 ultimate, and trying to use the dvd portion on my 360. I cannot stream dvd's either local or on the 360, nothing seems to happen.
Completely out of ideas after an entire day of reading. Need some expert advice if it's available.
Interesting. It looks like it may be an x64 thing after all ??. Can you still get remote scheduling etc to work ?? I think the app is fantastic for that alone ! So many times, if Im still at work or the other side of town, I used to get called or texted by the lady of the manor "can you please record <insert show>!!"
Now, she can do it herself by hopping on the web, or I can do it via my pda. Great stuff :) and that part of it was always free !
astro
I have not even attempted the remote scheduling portion of the program as I don't use the tv part of vmc. The only reason I'm trying to get this program to work is to stream my dvd's to the 360. I tried the transcode route but that just plain didn't work right most of the time.
I've posted and sent pm's to the author but so far no luck and haven't heard anything back. His site says he hasn't been on there in a few weeks now. Sure hoping it's not totally dead.
Tikker:now that webguide is free, has all support disappeared?
The author said he would continue to check on the forums and fix bugs just not add any new features. Prob is he hasn't been on the site since Sept 22nd, and has not responded to emails, pms, or posts about bugs. Sad to say, but it seems to have died.

Wow... that's lame, I thought Microsoft bought it and they're employing him to work on it?
Haven't done anything further with my webguide actually. I've been too busy to tinker with it.
Sorry I haven't gotten around to trying this, but I'll do it this week now that things have slowed down... I really want to remotely access my programming so I can schedule recordings from work or abroad while I'm away!
If Webguide is working via localhost, but not internet, then Webguide is working perfectly fine, it's your router that is causing the issue.
whatever port you use when you type localhost:1234 (so port 1234), you need to forward in your routers firewall.
You can forward the same port# if you want, so external = 1234 to internal = 1234, then your computers static IP (probably 192.168. something..), and make sure you click enable if there is that checkbox.
You could also forward it with a different port, like 81 external and 1234 internal.
You might also need to check Windows firewall, to make sure it's set to allow from the internet, not just your local lan.
Now, try connecting to the site with whatever external port# you used in the port forward, so if you did 1234 to 1234, use domain.yourhost.com:1234 or if you used a different port like 81, domain.yourhost.com:81
To rule out that the domain name isn't the problem, use your actual IP, so go to www.whatismyip.com and use that IP instead of the domain, like http://111.122.133.144:1234
