This all seems a bit akward, so I wanted to get some clarification.
I'm running VMC with TVPack. I have 3 Hybrid Volar Max tuners. Within VMC setup, I can successfully scan for all the analog cable channels (comcast-Sacramento - Digital) -OR- I can successfully scan the QAM channels. My understanding was that these tuners can tune both the analog *AND* the ClearQAM. I've tried every combination of ideas on this thread, but still can't get both analog AND clearQAM to show up in the guide. If I have to do it via QAMtool or editing the prefs.xml, or whatever, I will do it.
Has anyone gotten this to work?????
I have gotten it to work, however I get major frameloss on everything buy ABC-HD as far as HD programing goes. It is cable so no antenna issue and I have moved cabling around to ensure I was getting the best signal possible. I don't have the same issue using the QAM tuner built into the LCD.
If you are going to try this when going through tv setup it'll scan your devices and suggest your 3 analog tuners, choose manual setup or whatever it is first do the 3 analo tuners then it'll ask if you want to add more... chose digital then select the 3 qam tuners. Just remember you can only record 3 sources at once. MC thinks you have 6 tuners so you'll get error messages if you try to record more than 3 sources at once
johnlo:... I wanted to ask if i install the beta, do i still need to install the Vista TV pack??
Basilisk: johnlo:... I wanted to ask if i install the beta, do i still need to install the Vista TV pack?? No. IMnsHO Beta MC is -much- [much much much much much...] improved over the TVp [... although there are some issues with non-US support and with no-yet implemented previous features where the experience is tainted, none of these serious issues have impacted me (using USA Comcast)].OTOH, I am frustrated to the point of gnashing my teeth at some of the quixotic stylistic changes of Beta. Little seems truly broken in Beta, just changed from long-standing arbitrary standards to new arbitrary standards, with only a few recurring glitches. G'luck!
I got all the Local HD channels played in VMC. But oOnly two channels have TV Guide available (NBC and FOX).. all others have not available. How can I go about getting them all avaialble?? or at the least for CBS and ABC.. I like to program some shows to be recorded. thanks. and does the guide download on its own or I have to do them manually?
btw, I am from New York Brooklyn. and I didnt install the Vista TV Pack.
thanks.

johnlo: and does the guide download on its own or I have to do them manually?
Basilisk:Download is automatic. I'm puzzled/surprised that: (a) I haven't found the option to manually download (which was an obvious option in TVp), and (b) it seems to only be loading one week -- it was two weeks when I suffered with TVp under VHP. One week is too short: I'm leaving on a drive from NJ to FL [perfect timing with 12" of fresh snow expected by afternoon!] and can't program the beast for some things beyond 6 days. Or, perhaps I'm just slow to discover the answer to programming outside the guide -- which was part of your other questions.
Thanks again for answering my question.
I remember seeing something in Guide Menu that you can download or update the EPG... hmmm, i see two weeks of programming (i think) in my guide. only problem i am having currently is I only use data info for NBC and Fox. I like to at least see CBS so i can schedule my recording for some of the series. you getting 12" of snow? when I left my house for work this morning at 6:45am i think we got about 7 to 8"".. (me in Brooklyn)
With Comcast QAM you will only get basic cable channels 1-75 or so and then your local network HD qam (abc, cbs, nbc, fox, pbs).
They just implemented the unecrypted QAM digital basic channels in my area.
Analog is now limited to channels 1-32.
I am not sure how they are numbering the channels in your area, but what are you getting (that is working) after channel 75? Mostly what I am finding is temporary use pipes for VOD.
Use the AverTool scan for channels; choose the ones you want, export; link your digital channels to guide data. walla.
I know you said you are using XP, but for other users, on Vista be sure to disable opportunistic scanning or you might lose your guide to channel associations.
