flamingwoodchuck:Wow, is this annoying. I just purchased PowerDVD 8 like 3 weeks ago.
On the remote, everything appears to work fine with the remote. I haven't had time to test out using with MyMovies yet.
Chris - Moderator:Generally that setting would be in the external player. The MCML app doesn't really need that information if an external process is launched.
So, is there an API call that disables the screen saver? Because, if I was running an external app that had a static or mostly idle image, I WOULD want the SS kicking in, but if I am watching a video (and it is playing, not paused) I WOULDN'T want it to kick in!

You would think that they would give you 30 days or so to address this sort of thing.

spplutchok:Still no MKV support. Theres no way I'm buying into this without it...
MKV support in DVD/Blu-ray playing software ? Media Center plays MKV files back fine, if you have the right codecs installed....
I would expect this software to do what it says, play back DVD and Blu-ray only...
Anyway, anyone get a way to hack in HD-DVD playback into this like the older versions ?
I was tempted to download the trial but, It can't play blu-ray discs with a trial ? No wonder why people look for torrents to test software....

I've heard these guys have bad support, but I'm stunned by the responses I get. Am I overreacting? If not, well, ARGH ...
djp952:There does not seem to be a way to control the TrueTheater settings in the new Cinema or Media Center UIs. It's either "on" all the way, including motion enhancement, or completely off. Is there a way to set this UI up with a specific set of enhancement settings like you can in the standard UI? Many people I know hate motion enhancement, it makes everything look very cartoony and is not how the film is supposed to look. I *love* the other enhancements when set properly and would really like to be able to use these through Media Center. I have no aversions to editing the registry or whatever it will take.
Cyberlink:In regards to your concern, please let us know what exactly you mean by motion enhancement settings. Also please send us the screenshot of the motion enhancement screen. To take a screen shot, please press Print Screen key on your keyboard when when you are on that screen. Then go to Start>programs>Accessories>Paint. Paste the screen capture there by pressing Ctrl+V or alt+Edit+Paste. Save the file and send to us for analysis.
djp952:Updated per request with 2 screen shots. The first illustrates the control over TrueTheater, including Motion Enhancement available from the standard UI. The second illustrates the lack of control over these features in the Cinema/Media Center UI. What I'm looking for is a way to turn OFF "TrueTheater Motion" in the Cinema/Media Center UI. My research to date shows that the application is reading this setting from the registry, it's just not obeying it.
Cyberlink:In response to your concern please note the following : 1. TrueTheater function does not support BD playback. 2. You must turn-off the DXVA (Hardware acceleration). 3. If your machine is not powerfull, PDVD9 will not enable it. Please refer to the following link for further reference: http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/product-faq-content.do?id=6788&prodId=1&prodVerId=236
djp952:You're not understanding the issue here. It's pretty simple. The "TrueMotion" settings in the Cinema/Media Center UI are always ON, there is no way to turn them OFF. This is with standard DVDs, *not* Blu-Rays. If you go into the regular UI and turn OFF TrueMotion, it will still be ON in the Cinema UI and the Media Center UI when you enable TrueTheater instead of HA or None. The setting for TrueMotion is simply not being respected.
Was I really that unclear? I want the bloody thing off, not on! Geez.
In fairness, just about everything else I submitted came back with a "bug submitted" response. This one is killing me, though.
megamacx:Does anyone know why PDVD 9 Ultra crashes when I switch to cinema mode? The only way to get it working again is a reinstall. (and not switching to cinema mode again, of course)Also the Windows Media Center integration doesn't work. It might be related to the 1st issue. When I click on Play Blu Ray from MCE, the Media Center UI minimizes and that's it.If I use the non cinema mode, it works just fine... however it obviously not the way I'd wait it.megamacx
