I have somewhat the same problem you do. Mine doesn't crash, but when I'm in VMC, I click the Watch Blu Ray button and it goes to the next screen that says Cyberlink power dvd, then VMC minimizes and nothing else heppens. Same thing happens when in powerdvd 9 and I select Theater mode, it just disapears and nothing happens. In regular mode, movies play with no problem.

I have the exact same problem as you as well, that's 3 of us on this thread. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

    Thanks

I would probably venture to say that the pirated version with the .sim file for activation does not work when using the cinema mode as it is a different file set then the usual PowerDVD9.exe.  When you are trying to launch the cinema mode you have 0 days left in the trail, and therefore it closes.   If you have a legitimate copy they you will probably not have the same issue.

But then again if CyberLink would give trial versions with all the features unlocked then maybe people would be able to evaluate the software properly and wouldn't feel the need to get a pirated version just to see if it works before spending the $100 or more dollars for something that it garbage.

Win7 7057, installed PDVD 9 Ultra working fine.

Previously used WinDVD 9 had issues so switched to PDVD so far no issues with BD Playback, intergration with MCE works well.

Interesting... I'm running win7 7057 and PDVD 9 Ultra and it does not work.  I have the same problem as the others.   The screen goes to the PowerDVD screen and then nothing. Even if I start the app outside of media center.

Are you using x32 or x64?   Mine is x64 with ATI 4670.  I did get PDVD 7.3 running with HD DVDs though but no blue ray yet.

Running 7057 x32 Intel G35 Chipset (Using Intel Driver not Windows 7 Driver).

Do you get any messages popup on the screen.?

I've not read the whole thread again so this might have been mentioned already? Is it possible to have the PowerDVD MCE add-in play regular SD DVD's when you play them in Media Center rather than Media Centers default player?

Im interested in the upscaling features of PowerDVD, is anyone using them and do they really make allot of difference to the video quality?

    Thanks

EDIT: Is it just a case of changing the default DVD Video Decoder to the PowerDVD one using the Vista Media Center Decoder utility?

I've done this and the SD DVD's still play in VMC as normal i.e not in the new PowerDVD add-in but because I am now using the PowerDVD decoder and not the MS one, am I now getting the upscaling benefits of PowerDVD ?

Not sure how this is meant to work>

Now I've really broken things messing about, I cannot play any DVIX or MKV's now it comes up with a Codec error in VMC. Not sure if this is due to changing the decoder to the PowerDVD one probably not as changing it back to the MS one and I am still unable to play DIVX and MKV maybe the PowerDVD install itself has messed something up?

I can now play DIVX again in WMP11 and VMC and I can play MKV in WMP11 but I cannot play MKV's now in Media Center and get the codec error. Angry [:@]

Update: I've fixed this now it was because I had pulled out my AV Receiver and switched Vista to use the analog audio output and not SPDIF, so I had to uncheck DTS and DD passthrough in the FFDSHOW Audio decoder settings and now MKV's are playing again in Media Center. So this is not related to PowerDVD or changing the default decoder in any way.

So that leaves my question on the post above.

Upgrade pricing from version 7 and 8 to PowerDVD 9 Ultra is $69.95. Not sure that really tickles my fancy but I guess it could be worse.

There is a code to get an extra 5% as well so it ends up costing $66 usd and change.

It is quite nice. I had v7 which came with the LG Blu-Ray ROM I bought to convert my BD collection to just the m2ts files with only the audio and video I want so I can put them on a little $99 WD HD TV Movie server I bought to play my movies through my 7.1 HT setup. I think 7's codecs were being used by WMP and DIVX player as well since WMP and DIVX player stopped playing m2ts files after I UG'd to v9. v9 plays the BD's and the m2ts files just fine however so for me it's all good. What's also nice is it has incredibly more clean volume than either DIVX player with EFX registered and up, or WMP. v7 made BSOD's after a few minutes, a well known anomoly so I 1st got the 30 day trial of V9 and was gratified to see that that problem was fixed. Now. I just need to get rid of that Moovies come on screen that it launches with. I also miss the ability to de-dock just the player from the graphic folderol but I can live with it.

On the whole, I like it!

    wilkcards:
All versions of powerdvd play from hard drive.  You simply need to make an iso with imgburn first.  I have 60+ online disks that play perfectly in powerdvd 8 launched from mymovies.

I'm installing the trial version now...I'll come back with my thoughts, and maybe some screenshots.

Edit:  Ok, I'm uninstalling after 3 minutes.  First off, there's an annoying movielive sidebar even though I skipped installing it, and all of my isos return "There is a disc in drive with an unsupported format".   I'm hoping this is because it's a trial and not because they're dropping support for blurays backed up to hard drive altogether.

I'd stick with powerdvd 8.  I didn't even bother checking out the plugin since it's useless anyways.

The limitations of the Power DVD 9 Trial are listed as follows:

    Limitations

    30 day working trial.

No DVD-Audio available during the playback of CPPM protected content.

Does not support the playback of CPRM protected content.

Does not support Blu-ray Disc playback.

So unless people are getting a hacked version from an undisclosed location that doesn’t have this limitation, one shouldn’t expect it to work with Blu-Ray dsics or images.

The trial version DOES work with m2ts files however as my BD collection are all now on remuxed m2ts files. They look and sound great!

I'm having exactly the same issue, except Media Center doesn't minimize, it just locks up with the blue background with nothing else showing (right after it shows the Cyberlink logo that fades in/out). This is with Windows 7 RC1 (x64 7100) and PowerDVD 9 (updated to latest version). DVD's work fine in the PowerDVD Media Center integration, just not Blurays. They work in the standalone program, though. So.. in a nutshell, Windows 7 RC1 x64, PowerDVD 9, everything works but Bluray in Media Center.

Ugh.. I purchased PowerDVD for the specific feature of being able to play Blurays through Media Center, and go figure, it's the one thing that isn't working.

So M2TS files on the HD play in PDVD9 in Media Center or just in the standalone app?

I have none of the problems encountered above.  However 2 different ones with my copy of PowerDVD 9:

    1.  Cannot change the aspect ratio.  This is despite stting up PDVD9 to play Truetheater in the main software.  When I go via Media center is seems to revert to hardware acceleration (ie not TrueTheater.  Any ideas?

    2.  When fired up from VMC, the screen shifts over to the right a bit, which is irritating as the picture goes off centre.  Again any ideas?

I placed a few pre-order questions to Cyberlink about PowerDVD9. They said that this software will not work with MCE. Their website has changed from about a month ago when I first looked into it because of it's "integration". Oh well.

Try VMC as it is working...
