Tim:
It took me months to finally get my Vista Media Center working correctly. My worst decision was to install TV Pack. It has caused me nothing but problems. Tonight, I installed with great hopes, the cumulative updates for media center. However, they failed to address the ongoing problems which I continue to experience. Many channels display:
Service is Unavailable
There is currently no TV signal detected for this channel. The channel may be temporarily off-the-air, please try again later.
On the same TV, I also have a cable box connected so that my kids can watch on demand. I can watch the very same channels which VMC says it cannot detect a signal. Additionally, the news and other favorite shows which my wife and I record appear pixelated, stuttered and suffer from audio issues. I am at a loss to figure out how to resolve these problems. Please help!
P.S. I have an OEM, Dell XPS 420 with dual ATI all in wonder tuners.
Burd:Installed both of these fixes (supplied by Windows Update) a couple of hours ago. I've since had two occurrences of "Video Error: Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly. " (one while watching live TV, one while watching a recording, on my Vista MCE 64 system.). Never had these errors before. Coincidence?

" (one while watching live TV, one while watching a recording, on my Vista MCE 64 system.). If you receive the Video Error message, if you wait a few seconds does playback resume? Never had these errors before. Coincidence? Just did the updates on my Vista 32 bit system and I'm seeing this error as well. Was watching a recording through an xbox extender and went to stop playback. The first time I restared the playback it was fine and the second time I stopped and restarted I got the Video Error message mentioned above. Exiting MCE and restarting did fix it the first time but the second occurance forced a reboot of the computer. The third occurance the wife said to try another recording, which worked ok so I went back to the recording that had the error and it was ok again? Anyway, Burd is not alone with this update causing the Video Error problem. This is on a 3-week old Vista install w/ TV Pack. Thanks for looking into this!
