Awesome, I cant wait to see whats new!
Just installed the Ncontrol-Plugin for the new iPhone-App. I deleted the old one (NControl 1.0) and installed this one: http://kumatek.com/NControl_files/NControlMediaCenterPlugin40.zip During (De-) Installation WMC was closed. After the installation of the new Plugin I started WMC and a message appeard saying that NControl is an invalid application and cannot be started :(
Thanks for the info. I will look into it this weekend. FYI this plugin will only work with NControl 1.1.
I'm getting the same error, Invalid Application.

That is the expected result per the developer's comment: "IMPORTANT DO NOT install this plugin (v40) unless you have NControl 1.1. If you accidentally installed it, just download and reinstall 34b."
You need the 1.1 version of the server component which I didn't see a link for yet..presumably when it get's through Apple's testing.
I have version 1.1 on my iPhone, and I get the error of Invalid Application using v.40 of the plugin. Really looking forward to trying this out.

Yeah, I am running the same.
My bad guys. I forgot to update the Media Center plugin registration version in the installer so Media Center is expecting 1.0.34.0 while the plugin being installed is 1.0.40.0.
I'm currently out of town. I will provide a fix tomorrow night when I get back. Thanks for your patience and I apologize for any inconvenience.
Hi reggieq,
Thanks for that info. I went into the registry and searched for 1.0.34.0, found the one instance of it and manually changed it to 1.0.40.0--that fixed the plugin for me (just like you said).
I've got it working and can confirm that it now shows all of my recorded TV, rather than just the first 30 entries. Didn't really try much else yet, but I noticed that ehexhost.exe is still consuming lots of CPU time (constant 20% on my 2.0GHz Core2Quad). It was doing that in the previous version and I was hopeful maybe the new version would solve that since you are not auto-refreshing the lists anymore, but it's definitely still chewing lots of cycles. For the record I am running Win7 Ultimate x64.
Is this something you think you would be able to address? I love your app and would gladly pay for it (it's the only app I've come across that works with extender sessions--though I haven't tested that functionality yet), but IMHO the media center add-in is consuming way too much processor time.
Anyway, thanks so much for creating a great app and giving it away! It's really impressive work.
Edit: OK I may need to take back my earlier complaint about ehexhost.exe. I've just checked task manager (a couple hours after running the ncontrol plugin) and ehexhost.exe is no longer consuming massive CPU cycles as it was earlier. I'll continue to keep an eye on it, but even actively using the NControl app I don't see ehexhost jumping up in the processes list. Reggieq, does the NControl app do some housekeeping in the background when it's first started up or is there any other explanation you can think of as to why it seemed to use so much CPU for the first hour or so (I don't know the exact time when ehexhost calmed down).
Anyway, feeling optimistic now. Will continue to play with it and report back. BTW I would gladly pay something for an ad-free version if you'd ever consider that.

No I didn't do anything else. But make sure that you didnt select the option to disable the plugin if you got that message before. Also, after you make the registry change you need to close media center if it's running and re-start it. Maybe even reboot for good measure.
Finally, make sure the app is allowed through your firewall. Turn off the firewall temporarily to test it.
I made the same registry change and everything works great for me. Just learning how it all works now, but great job so far.
Finally figured out my issue after hours of looking. It's always the easy solution! I restarted my wireless router and it fixed my issue.
This worked, thanks for the instructions!
reggieqI am currently testing version 1.1 of NControl and will be spending a few more days testing it. If all goes well, I will be submitting it to Apple on 3/10 Wednesday. I will also update the website with all the new changes in this version on Wednesday. By the way, the MediaCenter plugin will not be available until Apple approves the app because it is not backwards compatible with version 1.0. Since mcewinter brought it up, is anyone interested in an iPad version of NControl or is considering buying one? I'd like to gauge the interest of using an iPad as a remote for MediaCenter. I am porting v1.1 version of the app to another platform and I just wanted to know if I should add iPad to the list of supported platforms. Thanks much for your patience and stay tuned.

Would that other platform happen to be the Palm Pre? Should be quick to port to the Pre from the iPhone given the similarities with screen resolution and API. Despite the beating Palm is taking by investors, webOS is an amazing operating system for those who haven't tried it. Great app by the way!
