dnr So, when you say don't do it over mapped network drives, I am not sure if it will work for me or not. The drives are not mapped, just shared.

Shouldn't be a problem, I was a little unclear there, I think. I meant avoid running MKLINK against the share, sorry! Meaning go to the computer where the files live and issue the command(s) there. So, let's say the movies are shared from the D: drive on a computer. Go to the D: drive on that computer to issue MKLINK. :)
I share my movies the exact same way you do. No drive letter, just the UNC path to the media folders. I've been really happy with this trick, and hope it does work out for you the same way!
Thanks for the quick reply. I will try this out today,
hi there,
i was having the exact same problem as you described and i figured out a way around it. you have to add your movies library via the shared folders, even though it's on the local machine. so instead of going through d:\dvd, i add it via \\htpc\dvd. don't know why it works that way, but i remembered having a similar problem in vista mce where usb hd's would not show up ripped dvd's unless it was accessed via a network share and not as a local drive. as for the crash box, i get it when i run windows 7 64bit. i don't get that crashing when i use windows 7 32 bit. must be something to do with the fact that totalmedia theatre is still a 32bit app running within a 64bit media center interface.
hope this helps.
I tried using the setup that bschreuder suggested and I get an error within TMT that says it's an unsupported file type, What am I missing here?
Thanks,
Eric
I honestly find this refreshing that a company is listening to its customers.
Can someone explain how to play high def movies on WMC?
If you rip a movie then you have a m2ts file. If WMC can play this natively then why would i need Arcsoft TMT? Is it that TMT allows multiple audio and subtitle support and switching? I think movies are contained in a single m2ts file so its not like dvd VOBs where you need a player to seemlessly join the separate files together to play the movie.
Also if WMC can natively play a m2ts then why are lots of folk putting them into MKV containers?
Dwight2001 That's it, I'm still running RC, not RTM.

Better upgrade soon. You have only 15 days before you start getting annoying notices that it will start rebooting on Mar1
I still have 2 boxes I need to upgrade soon... Been so busy with work. I guess I know what I am doing today.

I play my BluRay movies by ripping them (takes about 45 minutes) to a single iso file (using ANYDVDHD). A one time install of Virtual Clone Drive lets WMC mount the image to a virtual disk. TMT3 then autoplays the movie in full screen mode. That is how it works for me, I play the movie from Media Browser just like any other DVD, it just takes 4 to 5 seconds to mount the movie and play it with the external BluRay player.
I don't know about m2ts. I am looking for a way to create a HD format (perferably using .WTV) that will play natively in WMC without TMT3.
There is a recent write-up on Entertainment 2.0 on how to do just that

Pardon my ignorance, and this might be covered elsewhere in the forums, but I tried what you described and I don't see any option to have WMC mount the image, nor does WMC recognize an ISO I created of a HD-DVD rip.
Thanks in advance!

Well, I'm no expert and not always sure how things work! I just followed the instructions on Hack7MC. Somehow the installation config of Virtual Clone Drive auto mounts the iso image, I'm not sure where the option is. I'm also not sure about HD-DVD rips as I've only got BluRay. Sorry.

Thank you for a point in the right direction!
