sweet...love deals like that. My neighbor picked one up and it actually works pretty good for most games as well.
phenixdragon19Very nice but with the new i3 and i5 CPUs, do you really need this? I don't see the need unless you want better graphics beyond media center. The new i3 and i5 CPUs do all the of the bit streaming through HDMI.
Agreed - though if you are upgrading that path is much more cost prohibitive. For new build I think the i3s are definitely THE system for a dedicated and strictly HTPC.
ebayaholic Just a quick update, I see newegg has them in stock now from multiple manufacturers starting at $99 for the 512MB and $114 for the 1GB. Almost all of the 5670's take up two expansion slots except for the XFX which retains the stock fan and only uses one slot. Most likely the 5650's will be single slot as they are less powerful. Says you need a min of a 400W power supply to run them.

Well, with my current MB that has the PCIeX16 slot to the left of the PCIeX1 (looking from the rear) this would be unusable in my system. My tuner is in the only PCIeX1 slot. A MB with the slots reversed should work ok as long as you don't need all the PCI slots for anything.

This chip looks pretty nice, but for HTPC I'll wait for the HD 5550 which will hopefully have a lower profile (single slot) quiet cooler from some manufacturers.

I'm in the same boat. But there's talk of the recently released 5670s getting a single-height, passively cooled card. I suppose, spec wise, it's still overkill and an 5550 will be cheaper...
We have a passive 5-series, people!

...although, that passive cooler doesn't seem up to much.
Toms thinks the cooler suffices

The price is right for me to upgrade from my integrated 3300 to get bitstream hd audio and some slight video performance. The review said its not worth the upgrade from a 4550 though so you may wait for the 5500. The 5670 was on ewiz for $82 i think yesterday.

Nice. This will be perfect for a Media Center PC.
Newegg has them now!!! May wait a few weeks on some reviews.
