I am having a strange problem. Whenever I launch HULU desktop through VMC the left/right/up/down arrow keys will bring me back into VMC main menu. It seems the arrow keys are not being hooked by the HULU desktop through the VMC plugin. I do not have this problem when I exit out of VMC and launch the HULU desktop from the link on my desktop. The arrow keys operate as expected. Anybody else having this problem or have any ideas how to fix it or what to look at?

Also, I am using the IMON IR receiever and software for my remote and not the standard VMC remote control. The IMON remote should be sending keyboard arrow keys to the app.
The new HULU desktop update as of this morning did not fix the issue.

I believe I have tracked down the problem, it appears there is a known issue with VMC and the IMON VFD. When launching a program through VMC the focus will switch from the app to VMC whenever a button is pressed on the controller.

I tried Mike Garcen's instructions first. Which worked and I got a Hulu icon in Media Center however it did not maximize Media Center again after exiting Hulu Desktop which is what I wanted it to do. And also I tried Mike's instructions on a Windows 7 machine and didn't know how to get the icon on the TV strip as his instructions were for Vista with the TV + Movies strip. Does anyone have a link on MSDN for the new category Elements in 7MC ?

So I then tried Yagg's add-in on a Vista Media Center PC,
I copied the Hulu Desktop folder to the root of drive C:\ as per the instructions.

However when I click on the Hulu Desktop icon in Media Center all I see is a black page within the Media Center UI that says "Launching in new window when your finished just hit back" nothing else happens or appears.

So if I then minimize Media Center to see what's going on, then Hulu Desktop has launched in the back ground and can be seen. I double checked the always have Media Center on top setting was not selected in the media center settings, which it is not.

Also the back button didn't seem to do anything and did not exit Hulu Desktop and maximize Media Center again.

Maybe this is because I am using a dual screen setup? My HTPC has a 7" touch screen (Primary) and the HDTV is the extended desktop, which is where Media Center and Hulu Desktop launch to.

But for whatever reason Hulu Desktop is not appearing in front of Media Center.

EDIT: It does the same thing when Media Center and Hulu Desktop are set to open on the 7" touch screen primary desktop, so I don't think it is related to my dual screen setup.

OK so I've now created my own new Hulu Desktop entry point using MC Menu Mender.
It nearly does everything I wanted. When I click on my new Hulu Desktop icon in media center, media center is minimized and Hulu Desktop is launched on the correct HDTV screen and over the top of media center.

If I exit from Hulu Desktop by selecting exit from the hulu desktop's own menu system or clicking on the X in the top right hand corner, it closes and Media Center is maximized again.

Also I have not noticed any issues with the arrow keys on the remote control and they work right away in Media Center after I get back in there.

The only thing that is not working at the moment, is if I press the back button on the remote control whilst in Hulu Desktop it does not exit. Even though in MC Menu Mender I set that up. This back button is probably not working due to the crappy iMon VFD software. So will have to look at that now.

New Entry Point created in MC Menu Mender

So what's the advantage of using Yaggs plug-in other than it has an installer ? I guess MC Menu Mender doesn't work with 7MC so that is one reason.

    Thanks.

CW - you have to exit via the menu in Hulu desktop - the back button won't work for that.

I tried looking for a show via Hulu last night using Yaggs launcher, and the remote worked when I went back to MC! Interesting.

Did you get the update automatically, or have to download it?

    Hey Yaggs,

So, when I first installed your app, it worked spendidly.  Now, it seems that the folks at Hulu might have done something, because now it no longer launches elegantly with your app.  In fact, it seems to launch twice, with one running in the background (I can hear the audio) and then a hulu splash screen on top that I can't seem to break out of.

    What happened?

    cw-kid,

I also have an iMon VFD and I can't get the Back button to work for accessing the menu in Hulu Desktop.  Since you're trying to use the Back button to exit Hulu Desktop, are you using some other button for accessing the menu?

I wanted to use the back button to exist Hulu Desktop but it was not working, to exit Hulu I have to navigate to Exit on the Hulu Desktop menu.

Same problem here. The Hulu tile does not even appear in the UI after running the installer. Any suggestions? (7MC 7100)

The tile appeared in MC for me but Hulu Desktop was not launching properly for some reason.

In the end, I just used MC Menu Mender (Vista only) instead, to create a new entry point for Hulu Desktop, it seemed to work better for me rather than this and other plug-ins. But I see your on 7MC so you won't be able to use MC Menu Mender.
