It seems a bit strange that there's only one article anywhere on the internet about it....There's not even anything on the Netflix site about it.

Edit:  OK, so I called Netflix...THEY SAY IT IS NOT TRUE!  So who's lying?

I logged into my Netflix account to see if I can stream The Office in HD, but to no avail.

According to the engadget entry, still no HD streaming for the 7MC plugin. What gives?

Interesting. The engadget link had a screen shot of a netflix movie with an HD streaming option and I just went to Netflix.com to verify that picture. I'm gonna try this soon as I get home from work and see what kind of QoS I'm going to get. (Still no sign of The Office streaming in HD though).

 Perhaps it requires Silverlight 4?   I thought about installing it, but couldn't come up with a good reason.  :)

Just installed it. No difference.  Highest option is still 1500kbps and it's pretty clearly not HD.

I just tested out through the 7MC Netflix plugin. No success. I haven't tried it through a browser, but I wouldn't run a browser on my HTPC to watch a movie anyways. So I didn't bother.

Hopefully this comes to 7MC soon.

I then tried to find another one and did not see HD Streaming listed on anything else. I went back to the Lost episode I had watched and it no longer showed HD Streaming as one of the formats. When it worked it had a HD symbol at the end of the time line that lit up after the buffering finished.

Nice! Do you by chance know the bandwidth it was streaming at under HD?

I do not know. Where do you check for that?

I can also see the tag for (HD Available) for some of the Science Fiction movies.  Haven't tested it yet, as I am at work, but I will when I get home.

ALT+SHIFT+Left Click gives you a menu you can choose from to see the bitrate (A/V stats).  So far on HD listed titles I can only get 2500kbps which may or may not be HD according to this page.  I was on a 10mbps connection so I should have been able to get the higher bitrates unless they are throttling the connection.

According to your link, 2600 kbps - 3800 kbps would be the bitrates for their HD streaming encoding. 2500 kbps is pretty damn close. Do you see any difference in picture quality?
