Two years, same problem, no response! Drives me crazy have 4 media centers and makes finding something to watch a real pain! Not into the file copy workaround, rather see this serious flaw FIXED!! For gods sake!
If this fix is in Win 8, it would be worth the upgrade cost.
I recently ran into this issue after re-configuring my Media Center setup. I have written a script that solves this issue without needing to move files. Media Center can be open while the script is running as well. Before I post my solution, I would like to have a couple of beta testers. If you would like to help me test, please reply to this thread.
In order to help me beta test I would ask the following:
1. Please do not republish the script. I would like to get test feedback then post this myself soon after.
2. I take no responsibility for any issues this script may cause (missed recordings, corrupt metadata etc.). I cannot guarantee it will not harm your system in some unforeseen way. I have just completed the script and it works well on my system. That does not mean it won't have issues on yours.
I'll give it a go, my set up is two W7 media PC's (one 64bit the other is 32bit), which transfer the recordings to a Windows Home Server 2011
I recently added a second HTPC and have this problem. How did your script work out JWise1203?
He sent the script to me, but it didn't work for me, it turns out some of my recordings are missing meta data - some how it gets lost or corrupted when moving the recordings to the server. It should be noted that none of the work arounds mentioned in the thread work for me either, in fact they make the situation worse. Removing the server from the recorded TV library resulted in more programs with the 1 minute problem when adding the location back.
I think the PC that records the program somehow retains information separate to the actual file, when the recording is moved the link to this data must be lost, this is only a theory though.
I hadn't seen JWise1203's post until now. I am running two media centers using BreRobi's script. While this script is working for me, I am always looking for other improvements. I do not have a server and would prefer to keep all of my recordings in the RecordedTV Folders of each Media Center. Both of my systems use W7 Ultimate 64 and have Ceton Tuners. None of the content I record has DRM.
JWise1203 - If you are still looking for additional testers, I would love to give it a try.
Here is the link to the script: skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx
Please read the text file in it's entirety, I have tried to include as much information as possible. Also, please post your experiences in this thread. I will try to help with questions.
Thanks! I'll give it a try and report back.
Hi
I've been working with Microsoft it try to get this issue resovled and still no luck, if you could vote on this Microsoft page please as more people seeing the issue the more likely they are to work harder to fix the problem - connect.microsoft.com/.../whs-recorded-tv-archiving-produces-unknown-1-min-recordings-in-mce
If you read the posts Microsoft has given a trace procedure that you can run and send the output of that to them to aid in finding the issue.
thanks

Interesting script. I have two media centers and I am trying this on a 3rd PC. It has no tuner so step 2 in the readme is slightly different
"2. Open Media Center. Go to Tasks --> Settings --> TV --> Recorder --> Media Libraries --> Remove folders from the library --> Next.
On the "Remove Folders for Recorded TV" screen you should see the remote UNC network path you are using for Recorded TV. Make note of this path then click Cancel and Finish. Close Media Center"
Steps should be replaced with the following...
Open Media Center. Go to Tasks --> Settings -->Media Libraries-->Recorded TV --> Remove folders from the library --> Next.
You may wish to update the readme as this probably applies for Media Center Setups, with or without tuners.
Since I need to refresh two folders, I have two copies of the script. One has the path of the first Media Center Recorded TV folder and the other has the second. I plan to run them independantly and shifted by one minute. I have now run the utility (both copies) but still see some with the missing metadata.
I am wondering how I would tell which media center is still not refreshing? Of maybe both aren't working correctly yet.
I am not sure that the Refresh Recorded TV Metadata.vbs script is doing anything. I have reconfirmed my paths and made sure there are quotes. Using "\\I7MC-PC\Recorded TV\" but there seems to be two days worth of programs that still show up in the date field "Unknown" with the 1 minute indication. I have confirmed the scripts run for the approximate 20 seconds using task manager. I even see the Recorded TV Folder dim while the script runs. I have tried this with Media Center on and off but no luck. I am using W7 Ultimate 64bit on all of my machines. Any ideas?

The above URL does not seem to be active anymore.
URL works for me, but the script didn't - seems in my case the actual metedata been corrupted somehow.
I have the same friggin problem.
I've got 3 Windows 7 x64 PCs, each with a Ceton card installed.
They are all on the same workgroup, and WMC can see the PCs.
It seems like if I drop the shared folders and then re-add them, all of the 1 minute files go away and are corrected.
Like the other too, my wife isn't going to stand for this. I just find it so hard to believe that this has been outstanding for so long and not fixed.
My question is - In looking at the the VB script, can I have 2 remote UNC paths specified, as each PC needs to refresh from two remotes.
Do I duplicate the line, extend the line to include both UNC's or am I going to be stuck, running 2 versions of the script.
Thanks.
Michael
