Hi, is there any support for DVB-S2 in Win7 MC? In Europe HDTV is mostly sent over DVB-S2, so you can't watch HDTV with DVB-S cards. If so, which cards will be supported? Greetz, Manuel

From my understanding so long as there are BDA drivers for the DVB-S2 card then Win7 Media Center will support it.  So just search for a card which has BDA drivers and has DVB-S2 and you should be good to go (presuming the channels are unencrypted).

Windows 7 (x64) Media Center: Core i5 650, 4GB DDR3, 2x Pinnacle 7010ix (2x DVB-S, 2x DVB-T), 2x 2.5" WD 250GB RAID-1, 3x 2TB Samsung 3.5", 2x 1.5TB Samsung 3.5" (all hidden in rack cabinet in garage)* Extender 1: X-box 360 Slim 4GB, 46" Sharp 1080p LCD TV, Logitech Z-5500 Speakers Extender 2: Linksys DMA-2100, cheap 26" LCD! * Replacing old WHS since Microsoft removed Drive Extender and did not include Media Center. SyncToy used to duplicate certain folders and planning to use Acronis True Image for PC backups.

asm thanks for your answer. I formulated my question not exactly enough. I already tried a Technisat SkyStar HD with BDA drivers under Win7 MC. The card works fine, but only DVB-S channels and no DVB-S2 channels where found. With DVBViewer I can also watch DVB-S2 channels like ORF HD and so on. Greetz, Manuel

I don't know in that case I'm afraid, hope someone else can help.

The issue that MC has is inthe way it scans for channels.. DVBS all the info is there for a scan to produce results BUT DVBS2 isw different and needs input values to scan the transponders and this is missing.  The card mnf should be able to get round this with an update likely a reg fix to enable a DVBS2 scan to work.

Some users have dvbs2 channels working as MS has predefined lists and some dvbs2 channels are included in it.

If youhave a hauppauge card they are looking to have a fix of this by the time win 7 is sold .....

hi, mwallan you were right it's only a driver problem. At the german mce-community I found a driver for the TT-3200 budget (identical to technisat skystar hd). With this beta driver also DVB-S2 channels work. Here is the link to the posting: http://www.mce-community.de/forum/index.php?showtopic=35717&hl=technisat+skystar Greetz, Manuel

You need to speak German, and register to get those derivers.. I have written a bit about how to get connected with the Skystar HD and Windows 7 and included the drivers for download here:

    Enjoy :)

Also, have a look at DVBLogic TV Source.  It's what a lot of us are using to get DVB-S2 channels from the UK Sky platform in to 7mce.
Virgin Media V+ Box. I gave up. MCE beat me.
