So I have about 150 movies that I ripped in there native format. Is there a way to mass convert them to dvr-ms? Will I lose quality? Will the file size be about the same? I would be gratefull for any input. Thanks

Works very well - dvr-ms is an mpeg2 shell so same quality.

Agreed, I use Vob2Mpg then VideoReDo Plus, and the results turn out quite well.

Why do you use vob2mpg before videoredo?  videoredo takes vob files as input.  Is there some advantage to vob2mpg?

why do you need to go to dvr-ms? vob2mpg will make mpg very quickly, about 3-mins per file. the mpgs work fine over an extender, if thats your goal..

  •

mpgs over extender "work", but I would not go so far as "work fine".  The lack of FF / RW is a show stopper for me.  DVR-MS allows for FF/RW.

On my list to try is Todvrms from babgvant to go from vob to WTV.  I have not tried it, but I hear it works.

true, but the 30 skip is there. it was a good trade off for me, i converted my whole collection in three nights, and the software was free.

  •

Can't videoredo create the dvrms right from the native folder structure?  If a dvrms is your goal is there any reason to use vob2mpg?

  •

    Yes, it can.
The recommended method (and, it works quite well) is to rip the DVD to a single VOB file, and then point Video Redo at that.
Bam!  dvr-ms file in a couple of minutes.

I assume that videoredo only works with a dvd that's been converted to a single VOB - right?  If the dvd is copy protected what is the recommended way to get it to a single vob so videoredo can be used to get it to a dvr-ms.  I use dvdfabdecrypter to bring the dvd's into their native video_ts folder structure now, which results in multiple vob's.

DVDfab can also merge the vobs into one.  select main movie only.

    It can take multiple vobs

I'm in exactly the same boat (ripped 200+ DVDs to their VIDEO_TS directories - multiple VOB which inlcudes all the director/actor commentaries, previews, etc) and am looking for tips on how to convert them to DVRMS files with just the main movie included. I know that VideoReDo can do the conversion, I'm just worried about how to do all 200+ at once and make sure that none of the "junk" (the extra VOBs) get included.

    Cheers;
    DBC
