Hello all,
I'm ripping my own DVDs to PC for easy access via MCE. I'm am using DVD Shrink to ripp and edit my DVDs, and My Movies Collection Manager for my Meta-Data. I use Video_TS rips because i want to maintain full DVD menu functionality. I'm am trying to figure out if its possible to have multi-DVD sets in the Movie Library, and NOT have them all show up as separate DVDs in the list? Movies that are on a single, single-sided DVD work flawlessly in the WIn7 MCE Movie Library. Movies/Shows that are ether multi-sided or multi-Disc show up as separate "movies" in the library. Thanks for any help in figuring this all out!

Well they ARE seperate movies... differt Video_TS folders and all...
I do what you do... and my solution is to just change the "Local" name within My Movies... So, for Around The World In 80 Days I change the LOCAL tag In my Movies to "Around The World In 80 Days 1" and "Around The World In 80 Days 2"- change sort to this, too, and they willo shpw up in the correct order.
Have fun!
But some of my DVDs are multi-sided, my point is is there any way to show a multi-sided/dvd set as a single cover in Movie Library.
Sorry, I misunderstood. Are multi-sided DVDs seperate Video_TS folders? I am not sure I have come across that (other than widescreen on one side, pan and scan on the other- so I just rip one...)
Bottom line... if there are two Video_TS folders, you are gonna have 2 files... if you can edit them somehow into one Video_TS folder, you should be set.
Multi-Sided DVDs are two DVD5s slapped on opposite sides of a disc, so they are separate files! My wife has a few Multi-Sided DVDs that have half the program on one side and the other half on the other, mostly mini series stuff like "Anne of Green Gables". Any Multi-Sided DVDs that are Widescreen on one and P.S. on the other I do rip only the WS side. I thought about if it was possible to merge DVD files, but I have NO clue on how or if its even possible. TV Series on DVD are the other reason I am trying to figure this out! Dose anyone else have ANY solution for this?
The only other solution is to use a third party UI like MyMovies or MediaBrowser.

Viper. I do exactly what you want using My Movies. It's free, very feature rich and has great support. Plus each movie gets a ton of information attached to it such as all the actors (all of them, not just the lead), director, genre, etc. It blends nicely into Media Center. Give it it a try, it costs nothing and you'll be up and running in only a few minutes.
I have some TV shows that I collapse down to one DVD in the list. Click on that DVD and then I have a DVD for each year. Click on the DVD for the year and all the episodes show up.
This is also great for home movies. I have one DVD for each year of home movies. Click on that and all the "episodes" show up in a list.
Here's another tip. I record movies on HBO and other premium channels. That tends to clutter up the "Recorded TV" listing. So, I just move the .MTV (Windows 7) to another directory, make an entry into My Movies and viola! the movie shows up as if it were a DVD in My Movies like any .TS movie and gets off the Recorded TV list.
So far I have over 500 DVDs in My Movies and I've been using this method for at least 2 years. This is a great tool and I highly recommend it.
You can find My Movies here.
I was under the assumption that My Movies had fees involved with more advanced features, If im wrong i may go back to My Movies. I had previously used it in a XP MCE setup. I mainly want direct assess from the main MCE menu to my stuff, and don't want to have to navigate to a "My Movies" icon in extras. This is due to a need for simplicity for easy use by my wife and any younger family members that come over. I may use VideoBrowser, or My Movies, But im also not above doing some DVD editing with TMPGEnc Authoring Works so everything appears as one DVD file.
MyMovies offers a generous amount of funtionality without charge including the UI. The advanced features are worth the money but not necessary for all practical purposes.
Well!!! NOW that i have played with My Movies, and discovered all the options in it, I am a happy camper!
