I have WMC set to start automatically as the default shell so it's a nice family-friendly experience for everyone. I've used a method similar to that presented in this guide to achieve this.
However, sometimes when WMC starts, it won't have the focus. As a result, it won't respond to the remote control or keyboard.
To get the focus back, a simple Alt-Tab is enough, but the keyboard is usually hidden away as we rely on the remote for navigation, so this is something of a pain.
The other day, though, when doing Alt-Tab I could see that another process was running in the Alt-Tab task list. By holding down the Alt key and pressing Tab once, I could see that the other task was called 'ms_sqlce_se_notify_wndproc'.
Does anyone know what this is, and why it's stealing the focus from WMC?
Other than the applications that come with Windows 7, I have literally nothing else installed on this machine.
No, I have absolutely nothing else installed on this machine, other than the necessary drivers.
And even those are limited to Nvidia Ion chipset and graphics drivers, plus drivers for audio and network. That really is it.
Does anything in Windows use SQL CE? Media Centre itself? Or Media Player?
