In an effort to reduce the impacts of the disaster that is Series Link recording absolutely every instance of a TV show, I tried messing around with the "record around" setting.

It would look like that setting it to (for example) "around 9pm" actually means "only if it starts at 9pm" which seems to me to be ... well ... not astoundingly helpful.

Is there any way to enhance/fix this? Ideally some way of specifying a windows of time to record would be perfect but any kind of enhancement would be better than nothing - even if it pushed out "around" to mean "plus/minus 2 hours".

The short answer is: No, there is no point to this setting.

The longer answer is that with Windows 7 this setting is +/- 15 minutes, which from my perspective is virtually useless. Back in MCE2005 days this setting was +/- 2 hours, which was far more useful and something I used all the time.

There are no registry settings or similar to make this setting more useful.
