#2 - dump touchscreen, use HTPC for HTPC duties.
thx
subduedtoneWhat I do when I want to use my multiple monitors seems like a glitch that I wish I knew the reason for it. I open WMC in full screen mode and run live TV, then I restore it to windowed mode. Then I let my system idle until the screen saver goes on (I set it for 1 min so I don't have to wait long). After I clear the screen saver, I can put WMC back in full screen and my mouse isn't trapped anymore so I can move the mouse cursor from one display to the other. I don't know what I can do to make it permanently like that, because once I close WMC and reopen it, it's back to a trapped cursor.

1000% agree, this is the second thread where you basically opened up by being abusive and then asking for help. i wasn't going to write this on the other thread but do you find this works in other walks of life? do you walk into your local shop, tell then how cr@ppy it is and then ask for help finding stuff? i'm guessing not. You sound like far too much hard work (dunno if you get this in the US) and as Duncan Bannatyne says, "I'm oot"
I'll be trying out Maximizer... thank you to everyone who helped.
Depending on the remote you use, you could either map one of the remote keys to the Windows key (like with the harmony and the media center SE instruction set). If your remote cannot send the windows key, you can use AutoHotkey to create a shortcut for it that maps to a key that is available on your remote but you do not use (like the # key). the autohotkey can be made to only activate the shortcut when MC is running.
Then you would be able to send the windows key command from your remote, which will open the start menu on your primary touch screen, and unlock the mouse & touch from the TV MC screen
First things being first, get all the HTPC stuff working BEFORE adding other functions. It's the other functions that will screw up your HTPC items.
Adding home automation, second screens and anything else will give you poor results.
No matter the temptation, don't use your HTPC for anything but HTPC. Do so at your own peril and the wrath of your spouse and family.
However, if you choose to multifunction then don't try to say how wonderful a DVR is compared to MC. That's an apples to oranges comparison.
Just a note really - i do find it annoying when people simply reply to a question with WHY do that and generally being unhelpful - If you have nothing to contribute then don't.
I too would think micro$oft would have had the option to disable exclusive mode....ooohhh and HTPC - well to me the bit PC means personal computer, thus I should be able to do other things at the same time? Afterall it is not a SETTOPBOX is it.
almost as unhelpful as people digging up 6 month old threads in a vain attempt to look clever?
