So, I have a MonCaso MK700 (RF) Wireless keyboard. It's from a high-end HTPC manufacturer, so it really works well as it has all the Media Center shortcuts and special buttons added in and the built-in trackball mouse is really nice.
I have this at my mom's house on an HTPC I built for her. But, it recently stopped working, and seems to be dead in the water.
I'm looking for another good wireless keyboard/mouse combo and curious what people out there are using that they like... I'm looking for something that is a good stylish unit and relatively compact, although I don't like those really tiny mini ones. There are a lot of great options out there, but few have any sort of Media Center functions/controls, and fewer have a trackball
I was looking at this one....
I have this Logitech one at my house and I hate it!... So, I may actually be looking for a replacement for two systems!
I'm curious to know people out there are using and recommend.
I was lucky enough to find a Microsoft RC6 IR remote with programmable TV power/volume which is good for 90% of my use. To supplement the remote I use the IOGEAR wireless keyboard: us.iogear.com/.../GKM561R
It would be fair to say it "gets the job done" and has withstood several drops to the hardwood floor (although after one of the drops I had to take it apart and re-seat the keyboard). No drivers required and with a short USB extension the range is very good. The operation of the mouse feels very natural if you hold the keyboard with both hands. What I don't like about it is the way the Media Center Keys require holding down a Fn button - they should have included another row of buttons or a function lock option. Also, the arrangement of the volume buttons is counter-intuitive (mute is closer to volume up than down).
