I have 2 Vista MCE machines on my network. Is it possible to configure them such that when I go to Recorded TV it shows both Vista MCE machines recorded TV?
If this is possible, can you please list detailed steps for configuration?
If this is NOT possible, please submit this as a feature to the VISTA MCE development team.
Thanks

I have Home Premium, so does the workaround for its lack of gpedit.msc work as far as you know? I hate to mess around in the registry any more than I have to.

I have the reg hack for Home Premium ( the one without gpedit) give me a sec to find them.

Backup the registry first.
If you hate messing around in the Registry not sure this for you. its a powerful but dangerous place too be.Here are the two registry hacks need if you do not have gpedit.
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters\NullSessionShares = Recorded TV this does the same thing as Gpedit.
also set to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa EveryoneIncludesAnonymous = 1 .
Richard - Are you sure that Mike's blog will work for recorded tv share vista 2 vista? It looks like ...based on the replys that it does not work.
Is there a complete procedure to run on both Vista Utilmate machines that will share recorded TV?
mk

The replys you are seing are people who have not set it up correct, it will work.I have been using similar reg hacks for sometime and some for years.
I have and had it working on.XP to MCE 2005XP to VistaMCE 2005 to MCE 2005MCE 2005 to VistaVista to VistaWHS to VistaWHS to MCE 2005
Richard;
I'm one that has had limited success. Are you saying that sharing will work between two VMC's AND that the recordings of the main unit will update the secondary unit(s) "Recorded TV" list in "real time", without rebooting or any other action taking place?
Richard - So if I follow Mike's blog and with the addition of the below registry mods, then I should be able to see the same recorded TV shows on both Vista MCE machines?
I have done Mike's blog exactly as written...with no luck...although I have not the two extra registry mods below. I will add this tonight. Hopefully this will make a difference.
One more question...What is gpedit? Do I need to use this?

"real time" Vista to Vista you may have to reboot the or close ehome, now from WHS to MCE 2005 it works without closing MCE or rebooting the PC.

If you used Mikes reg hack then you have used gpedit, gpedit is "gpedit.msc"
Edit: if you have gpedit then you do not need to use the two reg hacks.
Richard - I went through the Administrator..Local Policies to modify the network access settings. If I recall right I tried running the gpedit and it was not found. Anyway I'm assuming that the method I used should be the same.
