I have a corporate client with a WMC based system which will be used for TV and DVR purposes. However, all of the Internet traffic for the building MUST go through a web proxy. Currently, this is in the form of myproxy.com, port 80. Now, I know how to configure Internet Options and also Windows Media Player to use the proxy, but I'm guessing WMC uses other ports to get it's guides and updates.
Can someone outline exactly everything I need to know to pass onto the network administrators, as far as what I need to allow in and out of this network? I know home users using WMC typically wouldn't be in this situation, but hopefully I am not out of luck.
Right now, with proxy configured, WMC cannot download the guide.
Any info would be great!
Anyone?
what kind of proxy do you have?
I have no idea. I do not manage the proxy for this company, but I can say that it is very secure and very little traffic is allowed through. I need to relay to the administrators what I need to have accessible by this machine.
Thanks for the info.
Try setting the proxy in IE MC may be smart enough to follow the settings in IE
