Hi, I know there is a thread on issues relating to Netflix, but really, it's not helping - people having trouble getting this to work on Vista, Win7, a so many problems with this... ..

Anyways, I have wasted about 12 hours of my lifetime trying to get this to work, and honestly, I think it's just a question of getting lucky or not. Microsoft, do you SEE how many people have trouble getting the NETFLIX tile to show up?  Look at your answers site and you'll find out - or look at the Netflix plugin page, 50% or more cannot get it to work.

I have tried EVERYTHING: changing my location, resetting the registry, uninstalling WMC, reinstalling it, reinstalling Win7pro x64, you name it.  Hitting the ominous UPDATE NOW button in WMC, whatever you want. Even the command line update would simply not work.

Here's a question: why do you not simply offer an installer for WMC and let people choose what tiles they want to see??? Why do I have to get lucky to make it work?  Hoe come there is no DOWNLOAD?

    Thanks!

PS: There was an installer for Vista Media Center, perhaps just update that to make it work with W7?

Edited for tone of voice... . :)

' My GOD, I have also spent way too much time on this issue.  I realize I can just go to Netflix or the internet to watch tv/movies...however don't you think that Windows Media Center would be convenient, would be great to have it all in .  one place!!!!  I had a toshiba laptop until it blue screened on me and brought a hp, I like the hp, but I don't like the that Window Media Centers doesn't do what I want it to do.  I am stuck....I need a solution helppppppppppppppppp

    Hi,

I’m a new comer to this forum [I'm UK based, and running Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1, with default Windows Firewall settings, and with both IE 8 and Mozzilla FireFox 3.6 installed ], ...and like many I too have had problems getting the missing Sky Tile to appear in Media Center since buying my new PC 2 weeks ago, and tried everything possible posted on the various forums and websites without success!!!

However!!...this evening I tried the following and I got a result which has worked for me!!, and the Sky Tile has now appeared for the first time, and it installed the Sky Player successfully - YAY!! Smile.  So I just wanted to share my finding and describe the changes I made, and hopefully it can help others with a similar issue (fingers crossed!!).

Here are the steps I followed (Logged on with Administrator rights):

    1. Changed my Local Regional settings from UK to US (even though I’m in the UK). Then selected Advanced and set option to copy to both "Welcome screen and system accounts" & "New user accounts".

    2. In Network Settings for my network adaptor, I set the option to use the ‘Preferred DNS server:’ to the following: 8.8.4.4

    3. In Control Panel, under 'Programs –> Un-install programmes' –> I un-installed "Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile" (in my case this was version number 4.0.3019).

    4. Then rebooted the PC.

    5. Upon PC start up I ran the following from a command prompt: c:\windows\ehome\mcupdate -uf –nogc

    6. I could view the progress of the download on Media Center status (bottom right hand corner). And where previously the message would end with “Errors during the last update.” I got “Update successful.”

    7. I then started Media Center, and the Sky Tile appeared for the first time!!

    8. Clicking on the Sky Tile then completed the remaining Sky Player install.

For now, I have left my settings as they are...so I hope the above helps..and I am guessing that perhaps uninstalling .NET was may have been the key...?, as all other combinations of steps 1-2, and 5-6 failed for me previously.

    Regards and good luck!

    Hi,

As a further test...., I verified that I had exactly the same issue of the missing Sky Player / MSN Tiles within Media Center on my laptop also, and I am running the same software/ configuration etc as on my PC.

So further to my earlier post on this forum yesterday; I simply tried un-installing "Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile" via Control Panel -> Programs, and rebooted.  Logged on and started Media Center and YAY!!!!! Smile both the Sky Player and MSN tiles appeared for the first time without any addiotional changes being required!!.

    Regards
