So frustrated. Just bought a brand new 950Q in hopes I could finally get some TV in my dorm room. Fought with the tuner for hours. I am now able to get about 30 seconds to 1 minute of live tv using Windows Media Center, but then get a Low Bit Rate message. I'm thinking about returning this thing. Any suggestions about what I could've done wrong during install or what I can do to fix this problem. Media Center also now has a problem where it will stop responding. Soooo irritating. Help Please!
Strange i have that same one on my netbook and worked instantly out of the box on 7 64 bit. What source are you using? Because teh antennna that comes with it isn't very good.
I am trying to run it using Windows Media Center. I can get it to run when I start the program then plug in the USB but then I get the Low Bit Rate screen, meanwhile the signal strength indicator on the device is green for excellent quality. I'm trying to capture the basic cable channels via coaxial cable.
My current computer is a Dell Studio 1555 running Windows 7 32 bit. Upgraded from Vista to 7 in the fall.
I have 4gb ram it says 2.93gb are usable.
You have 3 USB ports on that right? and one of them is a combo type port with eSATA. Did you try using all the different ports to see if it makes a difference?
Just tried all 3. Same problem keeps happening.
I'm thinking maybe you should try to limit the RAM that it sees.
Sorry I'm not too great with computers. How would I go about that?
Click the Windows in bottom left (start) then in the very bottom "search programs and files" type in msconfig and hit enter. When the config GUi comes up click the "Boot" tab, then "Advanced options". Check the box for Maximum Memory and set it to something like 3072. Click OK, then OK again, and reboot. See if that clears up the issue. The optimum number probably won't be 3072, but it's up to how much RAM your onboard vidoe card uses. But this should at least tell you if this is even worth looking into.
It didn't find the mscconfig or anything like it. =/
EDIT found it. giving it a try
No dice. Thanks for the suggestion though.
