After the Media Center remote was introduced by Microsoft a few years ago (the fat remote with a couple backlit buttons that looks like a silver shark sort of); it seems they havent brought upon anything new now that Windows 7 is out with a new and improved Media Center.  Also on their hardware website, the media section seems to have disappeared.  Im just shopping for a new remote that has backlit buttons and dont want the white XBOX360 one, so any suggestions for remotes with backlit buttons?

 As far as I know, MS left the Media Center hardware scene about the time Vista launched.  The SideShow remote never came out and nothing else was released after it.

You can still get the old MS OEM type remotes, no new MS remotes expected as far as I know.

I tthought the old MS Remotes (that had the TV Power) were perfect.  One of mine just died and I am wishing there was a place to get more. I wonder if a company like UEI could produce a limited run of a remote with similar specs if we collected enough demand with some vendor that would support pre-orders.  I would probably buy 6 if the price were in the $25 range.  I think it is important to have the same remote around the house.  I tend to become familiar with the button placement and desire the same remote on every TV.  This way I could have 4 remortes and two spare.  I would like the same specs as the Model 1039 with two additional features.  I would also like a (learning) button dedicated to the TV Source so that it could kake sure my TV was on the proper input to display my PC or Extender.  I would also like to be able to program Macros so that I could combine the Learned TV Power and the Learned Discrete TV Input into the power button.

Theyre still around, the OEM remotes.  I see them everywhere for under $20.

There are a few ms remotes with the extra power button on ebay (uk), not sure about the us site though.

I bought some a while back since they are the best remote kit to include with a new system for a lot of people.

A nice thing about IR MC remotes, once you have the IR reciver connected, you can get any MC remote and they work with it. They are also cheap (if you look on ebay, just for the remote), so I take my High end touch screen remote and use the MC remote just for the MC, so if the MC remote breaks, I don't worry about my touch screen remote

Personally I have and like the Orgen AE RC197, it has 3 programmable buttons (PWR, VOL+, VOL-) I picked mine up here.

The one thing to keep in mind is that this remote does not come with a reciever, however any RC6 IR reciever (media center remote reciever) will work, I ended up picking my reciever up on ebay.

Wish there was a way to get the AT&T Uverse remote to work with Media Center. They are so similar, I did a double take the first time I saw one.

Get a USB-UIRT and a compatible software to send the keys and you can. It isn't plug-n-play but works

I saw an eBay listing about 2 months ago for a 10-pack of the "good" version (the one with TV Power).  With kids in the house, you never know how long a remote is going to last.  I dread the day I have to open the last box.  It'll be time to find a new/decent remote. 

I was hoping that this remote would have actually seen the light of day, or even something that looks as polished as this one does.
