I have been having a problem that, when I turn on my TV and press the Live TV button on my remote, I get a Media Center message that says, "Viewing or Listening Conflict
No tuner available to satisfy the current request".

Generally a reboot, or a power down and boot, will cause the tuner to come on line. This started about a month or so ago but it's been happening with more frequency, say once every other day or so.

Yesterday, it became permanent. I've rebooted a dozen times but can not get the tuner to come on line in Media Center.

So, here are the steps I've tried to resolve this. None of these steps worked.

    1. I take images of my Windows drive before I install any app. I had recently installed the Kylo Media Center browser and thought that may have caused the problem. So, I reverted to an image from 2 weeks ago before Kylo was installed.

    2. I tried to reinstall the tuner in Media Center. No luck. Media Center says I don't have a tuner to install.

    3. I re-downloaded and installed the drivers from the support section of your web site.

    4. I pulled out the card and reseated it.

    5. Ran the diagnostics. All have a green lite except a red circle on the diagnostic page stating the InfiniTV4 not responding and advising me to reboot. Since I've rebooted over a dozen times I'm assuming that the reboot didn't fix things.

    6. The Ceton card responds to the 192.168.200.1 address in IE.  Nothing looks abnormal there.

I opened a ticket with Ceton at 6am this morning but haven't heard anything.  I presume they're very busy so I've come here in the hopes someone else may have a quick solution.

Well, more than a day has elapsed since I opened a ticket with Ceton.  Dead silence.  Not a word, nada.  Looks like no TV viewing this weekend and the wife isn't a bit amused.

I guess a trip to Verizon to pick up a DVR is close on the horizon.

Have you made any network/firewall configuration changes recently?  I got the same error as you describe when I tried enabling Internet Connection Sharing.  The one thing that was abnormal on the Ceton web interface is the DRM pairing of half the tuners (different ones after each reboot) were listed as "Red" instead of "Green".

You also could try removing and re-inserting the CableCARD itself (not the InfiniTV), but I doubt that will help -- the 2 instances where CableCARD crashes have caused me problems resolved in that way the error message was "Subscription Required", not "Viewing or Listening Conflict".

Thanks for the ideas.  I did pull the card and put it into a different slot.  No change.  Then I put it back.  No change.  The odd thing is that everything looks fine when I look at the embedded web page.  I can see all the info about a tuner including its temperature.  In fact, I can force the tuner to change to a specific channel.  I can even see that the cable card is inserted and it tells me that it's a Motorola cable card.  All this is displayable.  Yet the diagnostics say that the tuner isn't working.

I have not made any network changes since I got the InfiniTV4 last August.  My network is very stable.  The HTPC is about 6 inches from my router and it's only a 6 foot cable.

Did you make any homegroup changes? Or change the the type of network connection for the tuner (Home/Public/Work). Those would cause problems as well.

I, in my inimitable fashion, was fooling around with the Ceton network settings and got this same result. I could see no reason for having Client for Microsoft networks, file and printer sharing, and IPV6 enabled so I uninstalled them. The tuner did not like that and ceased to communicate until I turned them back on excpt for IPV6. Since you state that the tuner appears to be working make sure it can be contacted. Look at it with your browser http://192.168.200.1 and make sure everything displays. I know this next thing sounds crazy but it solved a problem for me, look at your Internet Explorer settings Tools | Internet Options | Connections | Lan settings and uncheck everything. You can probably get away with having Automatically Detect Settings checked but nothing else. I am sure that if the tuners all show Green then the light emitted by the tuner is blue and not red so it's not a hardware problem. Sure sounds like a communication problem. Try unplugging your regular network card cable, assuming you are on a home network, and see what that does.

There is a command I saw recently on Missing Remote that you can nuke 7MCs tuner list and force it to rescan. I shall try and dig it out, it may help.

[edit] hmm, Missing Remote changed the format of their site and old posts are no longer available (that had the command line reference). Here's a possible way,- you'd have to download the tuner sharing tool, then use the OCUR unregister button.

Also just a quick q, have you been playing with the tuner sharing feature? This is only for beta users, and can cause strange oddities you mention.

Thanks for all the ideas, but keep them coming....

Stonethecrows:  I have not been experimenting.  With anything.  I'm very particular about keeping it stable.  The software driver and firmware are what I originally installed.

Cowboy:  I went in to IE and there's nothing checked, except for Automatic detection, under LAN settings.

Steinway: There have been no homegroup changes.

There's been no software changes on my network.  As I noted earlier, I restored a previous image when the system was stable.  I have prior images I guess I could try, on right after Windows was installed months ago.  Maybe that will be my next step.

My gut says there's something on the board that's gone afoul.  The software's been stable for months on this system.  I don't experiment.

If you're running the latest driver package, you have the latest Ceton diagnostic tool. run that and see if it detects the card. If so on the device tab there is a button for resetting the network confirguartions and to reset the media center set-up if you can't detect the tuners.

If you haven't already tried that, do those two things and re-run tv set-up.

When you install your images, do you copy over or do you reformat the HD and copy? I just wonder if the problem files might not be fixed because of a date issue.

I had a similar problem where all my tuners stopped working.  Happened several times.  Ceton support said it appeared to be a Media Center issue.  They usually answered the support ticket within a day.  I do think they get more concert with closing the ticket than fixing the problem sometimes but all in all they were pretty good.

HTPC: PM me your ticket number and I'll reach out to the Ceton folks directly.  I know they are real busy with CES, so it's possible your ticket slipped through the cracks.

I just got my card installed today. No issues with the pairing or Motorola TA...but something is definitely wrong.

WMC locks up after 1-3 minutes of regular TV viewing...usually requiring a hard reboot but occasionally allowing me to quit back to the desktop and bring up the Ceton diagnostic screen. It then says that the InfiniTV card can't be found and to reboot the system, which I've done about a dozen times, but the problem recurs after trying to watch TV again.

This is incredibly frustrating and any help would be appreciated. I'm opening a ticket with Ceton but not expecting too much on the weekend...

My setup is listed below. No other tuners currently installed. Previously had a HD Homerun and had no issues with lockups / instability.

Don't see what anti-virsus/firewall you're running. If you are running ANYTHING OTHER than MS SE, remove it, go to their website and get their real clean-up tool, then install MS SE and turn on the windows firewall.

When you first start the computer go to the web interface for the Ceton, click on system and look at uptime, then click on cableCARD and check you boot time on the cableCARD (sorry don't know where that is on your Moto card). Now when you have a lock up, go back and check the uptime on the webpage and see if it's reset and then also check the boot time on the cableCARD and see if it's been reset. On the SA cards the boot time is in GMT not local time.

Also you did run and pass the digital cable advisor and are connected to a HDCP display. Sometimes you can run without the HDCP display and record a show and not have a problem until you play the show or in your case go to live tv. Another problem can be multiple displays if the desktop is set to clone. That violates the DRM and will shut down the cableCARD in various ways. If you have mutliple displays, set them up as extended desktop.

Update...I'm so close I can taste it.

Erkotz:  I completely forgot this week is CES.  I feel like a heel for making a ruckus.  They did get back to me noon today with some suggestions.

John:  I only use MS Security Essentials.  Also, yes I passed the cable adviser.  But, just for laughs I ran it again.  It says I've passed.

One of the suggestions is that there is a problem with firewall and MS SE 2.0 since December.   So I turned off the firewall completely.  I fired up the Ceton Diagnostics and on the first tab (InfiniTV tab) the line that says "InfiniTV Firmware Version" now has a value in it.  WOOHOO I have a tuner back.  So, I go into Media Center and proceed to set up my tuner.  YAY!  I can set it up.  So, I do.  It's going through the process of setting up the tuner and completes.  I'm ecstatic!

However, my excitement is not long lived.  I reboot the PC.  After booting I no longer have a tuner in Media Center.  I fire up the Diagnostics.  Now, where I had a value in the "InfiniTV Firmware Version" it's back to saying "Searching.."  Same with the "InfiniTV Hardware Version".  Just forever searching.

So, I got a glimpse of sunlight, but the clouds are back keeping my TV viewing dark.  BTW, yes the firewall is still completely off.

My next step will be to uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials.
