I have a bit of a dilemma.  I built a HTPC and after researching all the reasonably priced remote options, decided on a Gyration Air Music remote to control WMC(mainly cost/feature reason - $29.99 at Buy.com right now).  The remote is great for my use, but I also want to control other IR devices(AV receiver, DVD) behind closed cabinets as well as the TV(which line of sight) - minimal functions(mainly on/off, and volume) - The Gyration can control these devices, but needs to be line of sight).  The RF USB receiver does not have IR Blasting capability.

On my old non PC home theater setup I used a customized URC200 remote, and have a great MRF100B RF optional receiver for that remote that can IR blast up to 10 devices with emitter cables - so it is actually taking an RF signal and then converting to IR and blasting it - Problem is it only works with URC remotes as far as I know.  So my question is how to get blasting capabilities with the Gyration remote - It sends IR signals when not in PC mode(line of site):

My thoughts are to find a separate IR receiver(like an MCE or HP RC6) that has a blaster capabilities and hope the IR receiver is compatible with my other IR devices(Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba) - Are these standard IR receivers capable of receiving other IR protocols - If so, I could hide the receiver in an inconspicuous place for line of site with the Gyration, and then blast it to my other components.  I know it is USB to control WMC but I don't really need that function since I am using hte RF of the Gyration for that.

My other option would be to modify the MRF100B receiver to the same RF signal as the Gyration - Not sure if this is even possible.

Any help would be appreciated - mainly curious if the standard MCE receivers are universal for other IR signals besides just Microsofts Or is there another low cost solution I am missing?

Thanks,
