Just an interesting (to me at least) bit of info:

Sling Media just released a version of SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone which allows streaming over 3G connections.

I have my Media Center PC connected to a Slingbox Pro HD.  Already, I access the Media Center interface and content from all TVs in the house (via SlingCatchers) + iPhone via WiFi.   Now, I can access my Media Center interface from virtually anywhere.  So I can watch recorded TV, view my photo albums, watch my home videos or any DVD/Blu-Ray in my collection from my iPhone.  The quality is not bad---all things considered.

How are you connecting your MC PC to the Slingbox?

I bought a little DVI to Component (Red, Blue, Green) adapter.  My video card has 2 DVI outputs, so I ran one to the primary monitor (Sony 52" LCD) via DVI to HDMI cable and the other to the slingbox.  I split the audio output so that the same sound goes to my receiver as to the slingbox.

been doing the same thing for years with my locationfree unit

What type of video card do you have and what model of DVI to component adapter did you use?

I've had my beedies on those. Does it perform well for you? Can I ask what you stream to?

I have a Nvidia GE Force 8800 GT Card in this PC:  http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en/ho/WF06b/12132708-12133156-12133158-12133158-12133158-81670475-81981000.html

The DVI to Component Adapter is from eBay:  http://cgi.ebay.com/Digital-DVI-HDMI-to-HD-Analog-Component-Video-Converter_W0QQitemZ330403771375QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4ced9973ef

byronomo - great setup! I am looking to complete a similar setup but would very much appreciate it if you could help me out. - I just bought a dvi to component adapter - my computer has an optical out which is currently attached to my av receiver - is there some kind of adapter that splits this into two, so i can have audio go into the slingbox? - how do you control your computer/media center while watching slingbox? if media center is not running, are you able to load it when using slingbox application on another computer? Thanks!

In my setup, I split the "digital out" (orange) from my soundcard to my receiver and the SlingBox.   I'm not sure what to do with optical, but perhaps you might try running a standard audio cable from the "Monitor Out" (used for dubbing cassettes back in the day) to the SlingBox.  That's just a guess though.

Also, if I didn't mention it before, in my configuration, I don't use/need a cable box.  I also run digital cable into my SlingBox Pro HD which has a QAM tuner in it.  The SlingPlayer software then shows the EPG.

how do you control your computer/media center while watching slingbox?

Several Ways (assuming you've already setup the IR Emitters and configured the slingbox for your Media Center PC):

    1. When watching on my "main" Media Center, I just control everything natively and leave slingbox out of it.   The only time I use slingbox on this PC is when I use the SlingPlayer software to watch my slingbox in Japan (in which case I close Media Center).  For this configuration, 90% of the time I control everything with an Air Mouse.  I use a remote (universal) to power things on/off and I have a wireless keyboard which I rarely need.

2.When watching from another TV in the house I utitlize SlingCatchers (I have 4 of them).  I use the slingcatcher remote to control Media Center via SlingBox.  This works reasonably well but is a bit sluggish as is always the case w/ slingbox.

3.When watching from my other PCs, my approaches vary with the PC/Content:

      1. For my Win7 Ultimate Tablet, I run Media Center and have access to everything EXCEPT live TV in the native Media Center interface w/ no slingbox required.  If I want to watch live TV I run SlingPlayer and utilize the Coax input on the SlingBox.

      2. For my XP Media Center Desktop, I watch DVDs, View Photos & Videos via Media Center '05.  I watch Live TV via SlingPlayer w/ Coax input.  I watch recorded TV via SlingPlayer with Media Center input.
      3.  For my netbook I basically use SlingPlayer for everything.

    4. I also am able to access/control Media Center on my iPhone via the SlingPlayer App for iPhone.

if media center is not running, are you able to load it when using slingbox application on another computer?

When using SlingPlayer or SlingCatcher Remotes there are several buttons that you can press to start media center when it isn't running.  I typically use the Green button (not making this up) or the "guide" button.  Both work from either the physical or virtual remote.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for the quick reply and detailed responses. This is very helpful. I am trying to get rid of my cable box (20 bucks a month!) and just use my media center with ati cable card setup. But I wanted to make sure my sling will work with my computer before getting rid of the cable box. I have not yet tried to setup sling but just ordered the necessary cables. I assume from your post, when configuring slingbox (after attaching to my pc), I will be able to say its hooked up to a pc vs. cable box and thus will populate the correct remote automatically. Again, very much appreciate the help. I know you have the sling iphone app setup already but since I'm on android - I've been looking into remote potato which seems to be a cool software.

Yes that is correct.  In my case (HP HTPC) I selected "HP Miscellaneous Device" in the SlingBox configuration.  I'm not sure how to know beforehand whether or not your particular HTPC is supported by the slingbox.
