How do I generate thumbnails/previews and have them show up on my PS3?

So I'm on this quest of backing up all my DVD's (and eventually my Blu-rays) to my PC and using my PC as a media server - mostly for use with my PS3. So far, I've got everything working except for a couple of things. One of those is generating previews/thumbnails so they pop up on my PS3. This is mainly so my kids can find the movies they like without having to read the titles - since the oldest is still in kindergarten.

Does anybody know how to do this?

you generally can put the video file in a separate folder and a cover  image in that folder  and  DLNA will generate thumbnails.          What I have found is a specific DLNA ( not free but not expensive)  called Mezzmo that handles metadata , including cover art for audio and video files        Mezzmo is  available thru  CNET.downloads.com  and has a free trial

    good DLNA server also.

I use iTunes. I add the file to iTunes and then add the album artwork. Works great on my iOS devices, Xbox 360s and PS3s. I think that windows media player will do the same thing with similar steps.
