Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this.
I own a Dell Studio 17 laptop that used to run Vista and the AverTV Hybrid Nano Express HC82 (ATSC) used to work great on it.
I upgraded to Windows 7 and I can't get any program to recognize the device.
Windows media player either says that it can't find a tuner, or gets stuck looking for a tuner...never finding one.
AverMedia Center says that it can't find the TV Tuner Card either.
I have installed what I believe to be the most current drivers to no avail.
Any ideas? Any leads? Any links?
Thank you so much for your time.
Well, finally heard back from AVerMedia and the short version is, they don't support the DELL version of this card anymore with any of their software. That means that you can't use this card past Windows Vista if you purchased the card from DELL. If you purchased it retail, supposedly it is still supported. But, for me, that helps very little.
Here is the text of the reply I got from AVerMedia support:
"Dear Customer!
Please let us know what is the currently installed version of Avermedia Center, you can check this information in Settings/About.
We recommend to update to latest version from the following link
www.avermedia-usa.com/.../ProductDetail.aspx
If you have the 'Dell edition' of this product please refer to the followings
The serial number starting with letters TW indicates a special NanoExpress exclusive to Dell laptops as part of a Windows Media Center tuner upgrade.
The Hybrid NanoExpress you purchased through Dell will not work on any of our current builds of our software unfortunately. Unlike our retail version, the software agreement is different since this is considered an OEM tuner."
So, there you have it. If you bought if from DELL and you're beyond Windows Vista, you're S.O.L.
Bummer.
I have already looked into a replacement product and have decided to get the Hauppauge 1192 WinTV HVR-1950 External USB HDTV Tuner/Video Recorder. It's got everything I need and the company has a United States support team, which is always preferred.
Hope that helps anybody who was in a similar position!
