I am about to rebuild my Media Center 2005 using a new motherboard. How can I backup all the scheduled recordings so that I can use them on the new machine?
Thanks
Eddie Cooper
I found this awhile ago.. (don't remember where). Hope it helps.
You can copy the Recordings.xml file to an external media source. The Recordings.xml file is located in the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\eHome\RecordingAfter your upgrade, stop the Media Center Scheduler Service, and then copy the Recordings.xml file back to the Recording folder. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
2.Right-click Media Center Scheduler Service, and then click Stop.
3.Copy the Recordings.xml file to the following folder: C:\Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\eHome\Recording
4.Restart the Media Center Scheduler Service.
5.Open Media Center, and then verify the schedule.
Give me my home theater or give me nothing at all..
Looks like this would work for the XP Media Center, how about for Windows 7 Media Center? I don't see a recordings.xml file. Also that service is not there, may just be a different name... I want to move to an SSD for the main OS, and a larger HDD for the recordings. Don't want to have to re-add all of the scheduled recordings, and re-configure the channels again, takes a long time. Besides not all of the shows are on right now to re-add anyway.
