My album art all works fine in My Music but as soon as I start playinga an album all I get is a Black box. This happens with all my albums, ones I know used to work and ones that have only just been downloaded I't happens with "view cover", "View queue" mode and when I am looking at any part of MCE when the playing or last played box is in the bottom left hand corner.
In WMP they all appear fine as a Album Art visualistion
I have tried Album Art Fixer and it shows all my albums to be ok
They all used to work fine but I'm not sure what I have done to stop them working??
Have tried looking in the registry for jpeg and jpg (as recommended on XPMCE.com) and all the albumns have have a folder.jpg. Any ideas??
Pretty much, the only thing I have installed since is a Logitech Bluetooth Mouse
I have searched the Micrsofot forums for this also, 2 guys have the same problem with no resolve
A bit more info for you:
I've no idea what else to look at?
That's strange. I maintain my library using Windows Media Player, but I embed the artwork (folder.jpg) into all of my MP3s using iTunes (the drag-and-drop interface makes it really easy). I need the artwork embedded for my iPod, but it also gets around some of MCE's album art quirks surround found/not found tracks. The embedded artwork has always worked.
Since your artowkr did work before, it doesn't sound like it is a problem with your files or how the artwork is embedded... but rather whatever application/driver/DLL is responsible for extracting the embedded artwork is corrupt.
Have you tried re-installing or repairing Windows Media Player 10?
Jimbof,
Yep, I have the same problem with blacken art covers after installing IE7 Beta. Have you found a wok around yet? beside uninstalling IE7Beta? Thanks
While it's not confirmed that it's an IE7 bug, when checking the albums using a tag editor, I found that each song now is embeded with a photo, which was not the way it was before. Once these embeded photos were removed, things went back to normal.
How did you remove the embeded photos???
Did you just uninstall IE7??
The current RC version of IE7 is STILL breaking the cover art. The cover art is simply "black" when you are playing tracks. Uninstalling ie7 - rollback to 6 - fixes the problem.
Why are more people not noticing this?

Has anybody else tried this fix yet of removing the embedded album art? I'm also wondering if deleting the "LocalMLS_XX.wmdb" file might help. I've already uninstalled IE7 and everything is working again, but I'm going to reinstall it probably this weekend so I can see what the correlation is.
I forwarded this issue to someone with MS that can get it to the right people. I think that we need to track it down so that the IE7 developers have something specific to work with.
Opuntia:Same thing happened to me after I installed the final release of IE7. I rolled back to IE6 and it works again.
Chris - Moderator:This is all kind of interesting. On my system, I only have 2 albums that did this. But when I look at the album art in Windows Explorer, the JPG's have actually been replaced with pure black. Looking in the tag editor via WMP 10 there is nothing directly embedded into the file.
That is weird, are any of the other .jpg black also? I guess that's the .jpg that's used by MCE when displaying an album cover when it's playing. I would be interested to know what would happen if you remove them all and only leave the folder.jpg image. From what I understand, MCE and WMP works fine if you just have the folder.jpg image.
Also, how is it that uninstalling IE7 changes that image back to it's original state (which I assume it does since uninstalling IE7 makes everything work again). Maybe it stays black but with IE7 gone MCE uses one of the other ,jpg for album art....these are all questions I'll try to answer this weekend.
