Hi hveijk,
I have a Dell Latitude D800 laptop running Vista Ultimate RTM. Previously, it was running XP Media Center 2005. Under XP, Media Center would sleep (S1, fans still on) and would wake up when I hit the power button on the remote (I use Hauppauge's USB2 Media Center kit). I cannot get it to wake up at all from the remote in Vista. The laptop wakes up to download guide or record scheduled programs with no problem. I have installed the lastest vista-compatible version of MST, but still no luck. I can make the laptop sleep (seems to be S3, as fans turn off, and power led flashes slowly) with the remote, but cannot get it to wakeup with the remote. I have tried all of the wake from USB settings in MST, checked the BIOS (it has no ACPI sleep settings that I can find under power management), MST shows S1, S3 and S4 as supported sleep states. I have tried setting to S1, but nothing seems to change. I have moved the IR blaster to each USB port and tested it ... nothing changes. It would be good to at least get the previously working in XP S1 sleep/wake to work. I am not sure what to do ... any suggestions? I have checked the 'allow this device to resume' options in device manager for the eHome IR and Keyboard USB devices ( I do not even use any wireless keyboards) and do run MST as administrator. I am stumped as to what to try next.

I only did some quick tests on Vista. I noticed the “Enable USB S3 resume” does not have any function anymore. You tried all the suggestions I could give so I am afraid I can’t help you on this one (yet).
I will start on Vista as soon as I can find the time, so any feedback is welcome.
Maybe I will do a small test to see if the sleep state selection still functions, I have read dumppo did not work (for some people) either.

I've been using the newest version of MST and the recording monitor seems to work well.
However, I notice that when I load windows, the inital audio file stutters. I'm sure that this is due to MST loading. It's not that big a deal, but I'm surprised that MST is doing something that resource intensive right off the start. My system is overkill for a HTPC, so I dont think it's for lack of resources. Once again, not a problem, but i thought i'd make you aware of it.

Thanks for your efforts. I (and others) will be waiting to see what you can do for us under Vista!
somewhere in power options (control panel) you need to un-check the box for Prompt for Logon on Resume or something to that effect...
andrew1988:Ok, two things. I gather from other posts in this thread that your program will wake up the computer to record any shows correct?
And my other question is this. Right now if I put the PC into standby, when it wakes up it shows the logon screen. Is your program going to do this too, and is there any way around it?Thanks in advance.
Is there any way to integrate into the MST Tool the "Stop Live TV" functionality found here:
http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/2/143135/ShowThread.aspx
The idea is that the #1 cause of MCE not going into standby correctly is that MCE continues to stream video to disk even after the "stop" button is pressed in LiveTV (stop = pause, not stop as expected).
The "Stop Live TV" fixes posted, do not integrate correctly into the remote control "stop" button - they appear to work fine otherwise (I have a V1 & V2 MSFT remote and MCE 2005 with Update 2 and the latest updates)
This seems like a natural fit for your great utility - it seems like it should make the "idle" detection more reliable, if in fact the MCE in "idling" more often and not streaming paused LiveTV.
Let us know your thoughts.
Hi
I tried this tool and the idle detection didn't work for me. I set it to be three minutes and watched the timer go past three minutes with no effect on the system, i.e. it did not go into standby.
I applied the same settings in control panel->power options and this did not work either.
Am I doing something wrong?

I have a question about MST and Vista:
Whenever I try to run MST in Vista, I need to hit "allow". There is no option to select this program permanently allowed. It appears to have something to do with lacking a digital signature, since I am unable to add MST to microsoft defender's permitted programs list.
This would not be an issue, except that I schedule regular reboots (not using MST). After rebooting, i need to take action to get MST to run. Does anyone know a solution to this?
Thanks for the reply, I didn't know that ehshell had to be running for the tool to work - anyway. it works fine now.
At the moment, I have te machine configured to go into S3 standby after 3 mins of idle, which it does with no problems. However, last night while watching recorded tv on the extender (linksys) in my bedroom I noticed something very odd (and annoying). Every 3 mins, the 'working timer' would appear and the screen would go black briefly, before continuing from a point anywhere between 1 second and 15 minutes previous in the tv show. Obviously, the machne downstairs was attempting to enter standby on its 3 minute schedule.
This was confirmed to me this morning when I switched on the tv to find the machine stuck on the 'Preparing to stand by...' screen. Nothing could be done so I had to power off/on using the power switch.
I don't know if anyone else experiences this problem but it would certainly help if some extender detection could be built into the tool as even after I disconnected the extender and went to sleep, the machine was on all night.
Thanks
