Herman,
In Vista, when I start my system, I always get a message from windows defender saying that startup program have been blocked, and I am required to manually select "allow" in order to open MCE standby. Is there a solution to this?
This would not be an issue, except I would like to schedule periodic reboots. After a reboot, without MST the system would not re-enter standby.
I am using this wonder ful MCE standby tool with Vista Media Center. It works well except using with Windows Home Server.I searched lots of forums and couldn't find the answer and I also posted the question in several forums and haven't got the answer yet. So I would like tosee if you are aware of this unique issue.
The issue is that when I use WHS, I set it backup my VMS at 4am everyday. It will wake the machine up but 15 minutes later WHS reports backup fails becauseit can not connect to the VMC machine. It seems to me that the machine went back to sleep mode before WHS complete the backup.
The setup of MCE standby tool is below.
Sleep state: S3MST is installedeHome: Do not sto or start eHomeIdle: 'Suspend when a recording or guide update is finished' and 'Suspend when Media Center is running and idle' are checked.Idle timeout: 60 minutesUser: Suspend when Media Center is running and no user input - 2.5 hours.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
hveijk:@dcdydThe only solution I can think of is scheduling a manual recording at that time, this will force MST to keep the system awake. I will see if I can make a proper solution in a future version.@smithgtI recently released a test build that uses a different method of closing eHome. You can find it in this thread: http://www.degroeneknop.nl/forum/index.php/topic,4182.0.htmlIt that does not work you can try to increase the delay before starting eHome.Herman
Thanks, Herman. I will try that new beta version.
Hi iám running MST 9.75 beta but have some problem, after wake up some of the buttons on the remote don’t work (back, forward, reverse) i found out that when i click the mce logo in the tray it is not responding and the system will not go in standby these two things always together any suggestions ?
That trick made it working for me, thanks very much.
hveijk:This has worked for me all the time:- Right click MST executable- Select run as administrator- Configure and installThe copy in the Program Files directory does not get admin rights this way. MST does not need admin rights for its common tasks, only for configuration. So if you want to change the configuration, start another copy of MST with admin rights.Make sure you remove the currently installed version. When installed with “Run this program as an administrator” checked in the compatibility tab it will ask for confirmation at reboot.
My MCE 2005 machine sometimes seems to hang on the "Preparing to Stand by..." screen. Any ideas what might cause this?
I've just turned logging on, so hopefully I'll see something in the log the next time I have a problem...
Great tool, BTW!!!
Hi,
Could you explain what the s3+4 state is?
Thanks,Rik
