Thanks for this thread. I just started using XM and will try this regedit. I have a related question. As far as I can tell, when you use the MCE interface there's no way to see your presets. Am I just missing something? It's a pain to have to navigate through all the neighbohoods to what I want. Seems dumb. I see them when logged in via browser. Speaking of which, I can login via Firefox on my desktop system using Media Player 9. But my MCE system has Media Player 10 and I can only login via MSIE. Firefox always tells me I'm missing a plug in. But I'm not. Any ideas?

I seem to remember that before the AOL stations were added, the presets used to be available through MCE. I also thought there was a Setup/Options link that linked you to the account maintenance features (making the multi-page login process even more unnecessary and ridiculous). Those are all gone now. Maybe I just dreamed all of that....

I've decided that XM isn't for me. I'm not finding the music I want, I don't like how much talking there is on the music stations, I don't like that I can't log-in automatically, that my presets don't show when using the MCE interface and that I can't use Firefox with it.

SO... I need to know how to REMOVE it from my MCE Start Menu. I did the registry hack from this thread but I don't want to see it anymore.

PS... just realized that right-clicking gave me the option to remove it. So never mind.

When I added XM to the start menu, My Movies disappeared from the start menu. Is there any way to have both?

To the best of my knowledge, you can have only two "custom" entries in the Media Center Start Menu. It's likely that your new XM Radio entry bumped My Movies off the list. You can probably put My Movies back on the menu somewhere in its (My Movies') setup options. Picking which two items should remain on the Start Menu can be pretty tricky.

Thanks, I already added MCE Weather and My Movies; adding XM did just as you say, bumps My Movies off the main menu.

I have done the same, added the reg edit then seen how it dumped my movies over to "other programs"  I would prefer it the other way around. Has anyone figured this on out? If not I'll just have to delete XM from the main menue but I'm not sure on how to do this either with the reg edit in place. A few posts up said you could right click on XM and choose to remove it.   Can anyone else confirm this.

I would like to add the MCE RSS Reader to the Start Menu. It seems like it could be used to add a lot of extras to MCE, news, weather, travel info etc. and seems robust too.

I follow the instruction about reg edits above but an getting stuck on the GUID part. Does the GUID have to be specifically generated for a particular application?, OR, if I use the one given above in the XE Radio example should that work for this application?

If not can anyone point to a GUID generator URL that they can recommend.

I hope there are still some folks out there messing with this...

I did the reg hack and all was well - I had XM Radio in my Start Menu.  Then I installed My Movies and a few others and XM dissappeared.  I have since removed all but My Weather, cleaned up the registry entries, re-installed My Movies and told it NOT to add to the Start Menu, then tried the XM reg entry again.  No matter what I try, I can't get XM to show back up on the Start Menu. 

Any ideas?

Did something just change with XM Radio. I installed (and love) your method for getting XM onto the Start menu, but as of Friday it no longer works. You simply cannot access www.xmradio.com/mce, even from the browser. Do you have a fix? Also is there any way to get it to jump past the login screen and go straight to the selections?

Same here will not access xm radio or link xmradio.com/mce.  Have Call into XM Techs. Can go through AOL Radio Link but not all stations on Links.

Hi, I'm new to the GB but have been using MCE and XM for a little while...

I too got tired of the login process everytime I wanted to access XM.  So, I automated the process with some javascript and this combined with the start-menu hack I found in this thread, I now have a one-click access to XM.  So here is a link to the script for those who might find it useful:

Save it on your machine and change the extension from .dat to .html.  Also, you'll need to edit the file and enter your login/password (top of file).

Last, update the XM registry (see earlier posts) to have the start-menu XM point to this file.  Here is my registry entry:

EXACTLY what I was looking for. It works great. Just one problem. When you're in XM Radio and hit the back button it throsw up errors. Hitting the green button to escape works fine, but is there any way to fix this back button thing?

Dave, I'm not having any problem with the back button: no error thrown up! 
Though, when going "back" from the XM page, this effectively reloads my xmradio.html page and consequently re-logs into XM: not very clean.  I'll work on a frame version which will solve this problem and should also take care of your back button issue...
