i've got a generic question here, if your bios is originally set to "s1 or s3" how do you dictate which mode it goes into? mine was set this way from the factory (pundit-r) and it goes in and out of standby with the fans on no problem. but for the life of me i can't figure out how to force it one way or the other...
edit*** something else i just thought to ask, does "2.b Turn on ACPI 2.0 support (and any other advance power support options)" have to be done prior to installing 2005? i enabled it afterward and didn't notice anything unique in the windows power mgmt tabs...
one thing is kind of annoying on the pundit though, the power led is so bright to begin with, that when it just sits there blinking, it's really really annoying.
I have this problem - any help is appreciated.
I can go into S3 without any problems.
I can wake up from S3 with the remote. Only problem is it does NOT wake up completely:
When I manually click reset on the PC Case, wake up continues and all is fine.So I have to get out of my chair to wake MCE, and I cannot schedule a recording.
I tried to reinstall - same problem. I'm on the verge of building a small circuit that can press the reset button for me, when the fans get started.

caveman, I have the exact same problem with my Radeon 9800 Pro. It sounds like we have a similar set up and are having the same issue. I have memorized the key presses on the remote that closes the MCE interface and takes me back to the Win XP screen. When it does this, I regain my screen. I then go back in to the MCE interface and it works fine.
I have not resolved it yet other than my work around. I think I will either upgrade my drivers (if there are any updates), or possibly downgrade them if I can find an old MCE version.
seems I can never get to the dumppo download when I need it. Lost a raid array on a rebuild and didn't know it wasn't backing up correctly (figures).
Any alternative download sites???
I read the post, but on my Soltek motherboard I cannot see any setting for USB wake up in the bios menu. I see wake on LAN/modem and the I can set different IRQ's - but none regarding USB. Can the USB be assigned to a IRQ to monitor.
Please help - would be greatly appreciated.
Same here - my setup:
ASUS A7N8X DEluxe moboAMD 3000+MCE 2005 + all the auto updates
MCE eHome Remote update rollup 1
Have followed all the advice for S3 suspend support and it works fine - except the TV shows a black screen, then the machine completely shuts down as if I pulled the power cord out.
Anyone having this problem or hopefully a FIX please reply and lets see if we can all crack it!
I am having a problem trying to wake up from S3 standby using the Microsoft MCE remote...
The MCE remote puts it into S3 with no problems but the Microsoft IR receiver LED is not blinking when I send it the PC power up command when in S3...
I have looked in the device manager but I have now power management tab (as discussed in earlier in this thread)
I am wondering if its the USB +5v issue, but again I can't find any reference to this in the motherboard manual my board is a ASUS A8N-SLI Premium.....
I can get it in and out of S3 by using the case's power button i.e. when I push the case's power button it goes in S3 no problems... Push it again and it comes out ok...
Its just the issue of not wakeing with the MCE remote....
Any idea would be appreciated..

Hey Stealth. Use the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe manual. In that manual you will see the location of the jumpers. But be aware, Delux mobo is already set to +5VSB. According with this pic...

...the jumper is set to the right side. Just move it to the left. In your actual manual the jumper is called CHASIS.

Eskeda,
Thanks for your reply but no good!
The chassis jumper / +5VSB_MB only has three pins so if I move the jumper it does not connect the +5VSB_MB to anything.. If it was there I would need to add a jumper plug otherwise I would get the case intrusion tamper alert...
Good thinking but back to the drawing board!
Anybody else have any idea's?
I thought what the hell and tried the registry fix and it now comes out of S3 with no problems...
Reg fix is attached:-
