I know there are multiple ways to use your changer as a batch ripper, however I have yet to find one that did it the way I wanted it done.  So I made one.

What my ripper does is basic and simple to use.  Load your changer with as much media you want.  This can be DVD, Music, data ext...  run the program, select destination and click RIP.  it will create a folder named the volume label of the drive + time stamp and simply copy all data from that disc to that folder.  there are necessary pauses in loading and unloading of the media to allow anydvd to decrypt each dvd.

What it does not do is any conversion or shrinking, I am thinking about allowing the user to select between iso and copy, but that's not going to happen any time soon.

If there is enough interest I will post it for download. Otherwise I can email it to you.

EDIT: Ok here it is, I have not tested this on any other PC than the dev. PC.  This is based on DvdMasRip I'm sure everyone has used that at some point in time.  Because I had access to that source code I will give anyone who wants it this source code.  I also put in some catches for bad disc reads or if anydvd fails but I have not tested with bad media yet.

I'm interested in this very much.  What format can your ripper, rip DVD's to or does it just create a Video_TS rip of a DVD?

Btw, I would post the download and screen shots of the GUI if you have them available.

    Thanks,

I will post SS once I get home, - no reformating. just copies the disc to the drive, that way you can copy any cd or dvd

OK the catches work, I forgot to start AnyDVD last night.  each disc failed but it moved on to the next instead of crashing.

Alright, what prerequisites are there? I found this post last night, perfect timing since I finally decided to get rid of my 2 changers and just copy everything to hard drive. I've got Anydvd installed and when i run your app, it always starts at slot 80, starts to rip, does 3 audio files, then says "all media ripped". Never even tries to go anywhere else, and never does other than the three files. So I'm obviously missing something here. Hope to get this to work, as it will make my life MUCH easier!

    Thanks

Did you click list slots, true = full   false = empty.  If the list of slots indicate that the slots 0-79 are empty then that's why it starts there. that's stored in the changer.

I first unloaded all media and cleared the DB with the media changer diagnostic tool then reload & rip media.   I never tried with an already full changer.

    Hope that helps!

This program seems to be almost there. It is a great idea in concept and I hope to get it working correctly soon. I have been having a little bit of trouble with it. I fully unloaded my changer, hit get list. All slots came up false as was expected. Reloaded the changer and now they come up true. The changer slot recognition sees to work fantastic.

After all discs are loaded I hit RIP. The ripping begins, but I have never been able to get more than 5 consecutive rips at a time. After a couple rips, it will say ejecting and moving to next slot. It will then list the slot number it is moving too, but will stall out. It will sit like this for hours, so yes, i have been patient and let it try to load.

Any help with this is appreciated, also I am running Vista if that matters at all. Other than the minor stalling, this App is awesome, even at automating a small number it is appreciated.

Great I am glad you like it so far, I have not done any further work on it because it has been working fine for me.   I will take a look at the code and see if I can make that part work a little better.   Code always seems to work better on the dev pc.

does it eject and not move to the next, or does it not eject and lock up there?

Generally it ejects, says its moving on and then it doesn't. But sometimes it doesn't eject or move on....I know that isn't really helpful from a development point, sorry. Also, i have been able to get not copy protected content, such as data discs to rip almost up to 40 dl dvd's worth with no stalls. I did notice that these stalls occur more when anydvd is running, so that might be the culprit.

The app is great BTW, it seems to be doing a great job!!!! Thanks for the support.

Would you mind posting the source in this thread? I am using DVDFab command line switches so copying it to disk is a bit redundant becaues I then have to script DVDFab to automatically go handle all of the video_ts rips on the drive... 200 dvds ripped to drive takes an awful lot of unnecessary space + the copying time adds unnecessary time.

    Thanks!
