I just reinstalled MCE - and now I can't get the guide to load. I run guide setup - I put in postal code - it finds my cable company. I click next and if freezes. I can ctrl alt del to get out but it will not load the guide.

You are not alone - me too. Did you find a solution?

Several people seem to think that one of the MS updates has broken MCE guide download. Some are pointing the finger at the Microsoft .Net Framework 4, so I'm going to try uninstalling that.

I have uninistalled .Net Framework 4 from my MCE 2005 PC, and all my problems with MCE (25% EPG download, not going beyond selecting the transmitter, failure to scan for stations) all seems to have gone away - my MCE is working fine again. In case i is relevant, my tuner is an Hauppague T500 dual DVB-T card.

I would advise all MCE 2005 users to uninstall .Net Framework 4 and get MS update to ignore it as an update.

i have been racking my brain for quite some time on how to fix this and i saw this and uninstalled .Net 4 from my PC and sure enough that was the problem ....i can now download my guide again and record my programs as well ...thanks to those who posted this and found a fix for this ...much appreciated for the info ......i wish microsoft would fix their stuff and update things properly ...but that would be asking too much

I have had same problem...would not record and it seemed to hang when i tried to reload the guide....I went to the control panel and removed the Net 4 through the add/remove and presto ...everything is back to normal...thanks for the help.
