I have had an HP 864n system for years. It's been upgraded to MCE 2005. It's had all of the HP updates, running SP3, and has the latest MCE rollup installed. I have a replacement HP remote control that won't install because it cant find the software for. It's an HP/SMK rxx6000-0141e.
I have done the typical HP song and dance with tech support and get the usual answers. IE: just download all the updates from HP and Microsoft and it will work.
NOPE, afraid it doesn't
After every attempt to install, I get the same msg. "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the neccessary software"
I used to be quite active with TGB but my system has ran so well for years, I havn't had to do anything. My rank and join date are actually not accurate since I have no clue what my email or screen name was back then.
I did run multiple searches to make sure I didn't miss an obvious answer to my question and never came up with anything directly related.
I did see some Gateway posts using the same SMK transceiver but didn't want to chance it with HP equipment.
Any fixes or suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve
