Ver 2.2.0606 is up. Staknhalo, your requested fix has been implemented. Also, I add the initial cut of a search feature. I will work on expanding the youtube plug-in in the next update. I won't have the login feature yet, tho'. I have to seriously think about how to encrypt/deal with the credentials.

  •

Thanks man, appreciate it. I just installed it and played around with search real quick. I cant see myself using it as I know what I have in my library; but it worked fine doing a TV show and podcast search/test. One thing though, it doesn't search people/cast. Some may want that feature. Take your time with the next update, you deserve it :P

Also, it seems Discovery changed their podcast RSS feed. I can't seem to find the new/updated one; only the old one. It doesn't return any results anymore while it used to up to about a month or so ago. You wouldn't happen to know what the new RSS feed would be by any chance?

For search, yeah, it doesn't go against people data just the content (series, video, etc.)

is that Discovery news? I'll have to check...I removed that one from my podcast folder so I didn't know it changed.

  •

    Yeah, that's the one.

Odd. The url works in a browser

    Hi Jack,

I'm going to download the newer build soon; I'm not needing the podcast part so much, if only for the fact that I don't listen to very many, but it's a good feature to have, for sure.  Have you thought of a 'stats' feature to show how much of one's collection has been viewed?  Something like

Doctor Who: 4 of 178 episodes viewed

Collection: 18 of 18400 episodes viewed

And maybe something like Zune's 'badges' where you'd get a list of top TV shows, and bronze (200 plays), silver (1000 plays), and gold (5000 plays).  We could house it in settings or a social pivot, showing which series we've played the most, top TV shows, favorites, and recently viewed shows/episodes.  Possibly even see what friends are watching / have watched (if there's a way to store unique user info and transmit it or store it on a server somewhere).

Or possibly a 'post to Facebook' button to post the album art / DVD cover, series, and episode: "Jack is watching Doctor Who: Blink"?  Maybe even have an auto-post to FB setting when you finish a show.

One thing I've found is the plug-in seems to tend to create duplicates of series every so often, and I can't identify why just yet.  Would it be possible to create a 'merge series' function?  And possibly an mkv feature to 'prefer' an HD version of an identically named episode if it's present, such as:

    Doctor Who - S05E01 - Eleven.mkv

    Doctor Who - S05E01 - Eleven.avi

    Doctor Who - S05E02 - The Beast Below.avi

In the interface, we would see the mkv of Eleven and the avi of Beast Below, since the first has an HD copy available, and the second has only an SD episode.  I don't know about others, but I do tend to download an SD and an HD copy of episodes.  The SD is for Media Center and the plug-in, and the MKV is for watching on the big screen.  I would love to put this plugin on my HDTV and watch HD files with it.

Thanks again for a great plugin, Jack!

  •

Hmm. Not sure about the FB integration bit but I do want to know more about duplicate series being created.  There is a most watched pivot for in the main gallery that shows you the most watched series --this is separate from favourite series.

RE: podcasts, this was envisioned for video podcasts. While it doesn't explicitly support audio podcasts, it allows them to be added  and played.

It seems to happen when I mis-name the file, but have it in the same folder as the rest of the series, like "st-tng.s06e26.dvdrip.xvid-dvdiso.avi" in Star Trek: The Next Generation>Season 6, it seems to want to put it in its own series instead of considering it part of the same series.  It did the same for Once Upon a Time.

One other thing I was thinking about, was the possibility of having an "Extras" folder in each season's folder to contain any DVD box set special features when I rip my DVDs to my HDD, and having that folder represented as a pivot when viewing any season in the plug-in.  Ditto for movies ripped to the HDD so that we can keep special features in the same folder with the respective movies without them being considered as separate TV Show episodes/series or as separate movies.

And possibly have backgrounds represented in the plugin as an option, say on the series pivot, when viewing a series, have the most recent season's background, but when viewing a specific season, have that particular season's background image while browsing episodes.  For example, Doctor Who.  This is the most recent background for the series on The TV Database, but there's fan art like this for the first season, and this for the fifth season.  I'd like to be able to somehow set it to show backgrounds when browsing through a TV show, perhaps by having a picture in the metadata folder such as 'doctor who (2005).season 1.background_01.jpg'

In the 'movies' pivot, I somehow have an episode of M.A.S.K. identified as the 1980 movie 'Boiling Point,' the 23rd episode, filename "M.A.S.K.-ANIMATED-SERIES-023-Vanishing Point-(XVID).video.xml"  I renamed it and it moved it out of the movies section, but I didn't understand how it did the identifying.  Would there be a chance of a right-click menu 'edit metadata' option to manually/forcibly tell it the series, season, episode, and episode title within the program?  Is the right-click something not open to plug-ins?

I just downloaded the new 64-bit version and it seems that I click on it and nothing happens.  I deleted the sql library before installing, but it seems the sdf file is stuck at 212KB, and the log is the only thing growing in size.

Hey Jack, just FYI: Game of Thrones disappeared from my library. I had to stop the service, delete the library file and restart the service like 4 times for it to reappear. It's back now, I'll let you know if it vanishes again.

Edit: And 5 mins later, it's gone again.

    RE: STNG

Hmm..I am curious about this issue. It could be what staknhalo is experiencing. So you're saying the series name on the episode --as  determined from the episode file --is different from the name of the series folder?

    RE: "M.A.S.K.-ANIMATED-SERIES-023-Vanishing Point-(XVID).ext"

This isn't a supported format for an episode so it was picked up as a movie.

Dang. Thought this bug was squished last year or before.  This might be related to the 'extra' series JJohnson was getting as well. A few questions:

    1. What is the exact name of the series folder?

    2. What are the full file paths of all episode files?

    3. Do you have more than one HTPC (with the plugin) pointing to the same set of content folders?

Are there any episodes files where the series name part on the file is different? Ex. GoT S01E02.avi or GameThrones S01E03.mp4 or something?

  •

Correction: Because the plugin was able to identify the file as an episode file, it did not evaluate the full path, including series folder and season folder. In other words, it identified an season 6 episode 26 of a series called "st-tng". Was the extra series you saw called "st-tng" and no metadata could be found for it or the episode?
