Let me first thanks you for your precious app that I was very happy to buy !! :) (merci !)
I just have a big problem which I can't figure how to solve: I'm connected on a wifi network on my iphone (192.168.0.1 for the router) and my VmcMote server is on a second network linked to the first one (192.168.1.1 for the second router and 192.168.1.2 for the pc where the server is) because the first one has a too weak signal.
The problem is like I saw on your faq, the client and the server have to be on the same subnetwork for the client to discover the server. I use many apps that simply allow to give them the IP address of the server to find it (inControl, Image Bank, Air Video...). In my case I just give them the 2nd router adress and redirect the port on the router to reach the good computer. Is there a trick I can use to achieve the same thing with VmcMote ? Or do you have the possibility to change something so we can achieve that ?

I have also experienced the slow response when going between artist and albums. I have deleted and reinstalled the app and have tested it with two different media centers. I have a library of about 30000 songs but it didn't seem to be a problem before the last update. Maybe a combination of the last update and the size of the library?
First of all, sorry for the late reply. I was very busy finishing my first thesis version the last weeks.
@Expectations: Broadcast packets (that are used to find the server) do not traverse subnetwork borders. There is no way to achieve that in a router as far as I know. The only way would be to add another discovery method in my code that works with unicasts. I will set it on the list.
@ace61109: I did some slight changes to the database in the last update. I did not expect any speed changes from that, but perhaps I missed something. It could be the reason why its slower. Unfortunately, my library is too small to test that properly. I might need to build up a huge "fake" library. However, not sure yet how to do that some kind of automated and without overloading my virtual machine I am developing on ;-)
Any way, I will look into that responsiveness issue the moment I find the time.

Just wanted to inform you that a new version (1.2.8.1) is in the review process at Apple. It should be available soon.
The slow library browsing problem reported by ace61109 is fixed now. Issue a re-sync for the speedup to take effect. I further fixed device orientation related problems. The cover wall will now rotate reliably, even after the device has been locked. I also fixed the issue that in some circumstances the very last album was not shown in Cover Wall mode on the iPad.
The server remains unchanged and does not need to be updated.

i have a large number of auto play lists and was wondering if there is anyway to get them to download in the app so that they are available on my iPhone and iPad. when i go to the play list section and hit browse nothing happens

As noted in the app description in itunes, playlists are currently "on device only". Therefore, there is no sync of playlists. Such a feature is on the todo-list however. I just did not find the spare time to implement it so far. I still have to finish my PhD first (another month). Additionally, as other stuff, like WakeOnLan is higher on the list, it will take some time.
What you can do now: vmcMote is able to import the "now playing" list into the currently edited playlist. Create a new list in vmcMote, start the playlist you want to transfer in Media Center, and import the now playing list into the playlist in vmcMote afterwards. Its an ugly hack, but the only way at the moment. Sorry about that.
@ace61109: Nice to hear that the last updated fixed the speed problems as intended.
While using the app I noticed that the lag is still there for albums listed under various artists. The next two are feature requests: It would be nice to have the app prompt you with a message box asking if you are sure you want to clear the current playlist when clicking the play button. There are several times I have accidentally hit play instead of enqueue and lost my entire playlist. This may be a media center issue rather than vmcmote but if I have two albumns by the same artist but they have different items capitalized it will display as two artists. For example "Adam and The Ants" and "Adam and The Ants" will display as two different artists. I know you are busy with far more important things but keep up the good work!
Good ole spell check! That should have stated that "Adam and the Ants" and "Adam and The Ants" display as two different artists.
One more request, groups that start with "The" as the first word in their name are sorted with the T's. Most player will ignore that and sort by the next word. In VMCMOTE you will find The Beatles in the T's instead of the B's.

Love this app, any chance of providing support for media browser in the same way as you have done for the album art. Would love to view my film covers and DVD info on my iPad in this app.
