PowerDVD DOES support BR movies ripped to disk, they just need to be in an ISO format. Once in a iso format Daemon Tools loads it and Power DVD will play it back.
PowerDVD 8 does play HD-DVD, it can by downloading a certain software pack off of any torrent site. Beta versions of PowerDVD 8 could play HD-DVD and they pulled that support before making the final product available. It's very easy to make it work.
Either player works fine, but you are in a PowerDVD thread.... why not start a seperate thread on how great ArcSoft is?

Agreed that PowerDVD8 support that feature - like almost anyother DB playback software product. PowerDVD8 does, on the other hand not support BD playback natively like Arcsoft, so you need to convert to ISO after ripping the BD to HDD.
This is not the case for ArcSoft, hence that is the reason i prefer ArcSoft to PowerDVD8. Less time ripping, converting to ISO etc. more time to watch the movies :-)

ImgBurn can actually create the Iso in one stop, while ripping. Just use ANYDVDHD, open ImgBurn, select the BR drive you wanna rip, and it will rip into an iso.
The problem is that once the MPAA catches on how popular ArcSoft is, they will get served, and they will be forced to drop it just like PowerDVD. There is a reason the biggest selling player softwares in the market have dropped support.

BTW, if you'd quit posting in a PowerDVD thread about how great ArcSoft is, you'd have a lot more time to watch your non-iso movies :)
Cheers
Its now July 08

raduque:Anybody know how to make this work with powerdvd8?
raduque:Thanks! Now I just need to figure out how it applies to MCE 2005.
Musictype:Or use MC Menu Mender and add "Close the Now Playing view port" to the entry point.See this for a more detailed explanation: http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/276004.aspxI did the script, because this plugin does not close PowerDVD with the remote after the movie is done (or at least it doesn't for me,) and I keep the mouse stowed away most of the time.
If you are still having problems with Media Center and PowerDVD you can try my script which works with the solution provided by ourmediacenter.com by minimising MC while PowerDVD is open to fix the issue with Media Center popping back up when you access PowerDVD by remote.Hope this helps!
I have uploaded the file as an exe to the site below, you just need to put in your startup folder it can then run in the system tray.
