This is an awesome piece of software! Works perfectly to control my MCE and two extenders from my iPhone. Finally I can sit in my garden, switch on my garden speakers and change music tracks on MCE without getting up and walking back into the house. Now if only we had some sunshine!
Now, minor criticisms...the UI needs some work for the iPod Touch/iPhone - the text is a little small for my fingers. I agree with the previous poster that it would be awesome if the UI fitted in with the house "style" of the iPhone.
Also, is a 800 x 480 skin possible? I have a touchscreen that uses this resolution and this software essentially provides similar functionality to the Niveus control software that is sold with high-end systems. I think people would be prepared to pay good money for this type of software with a sharper UI. Sorry, if I sound rather critical, this really is the best MCE-related software I've seen for ages.

Well I am extremely impressed with ngRC it works perfectly on my Sony PSP.
I have two questions can you make the ngRC application launch VMC if its not already running on the PC? That would be a cool addition.
And can I suppress the popup dialog box in VMC about connecting on port 7755 I'd rather not see that each time.
Another small thing, when selecting "My Music" from the ngRC home page, you then have Album Author Genre etc accross the top, shouldn't Author say Artist instead?
Going to test it on the XBOX 360 MCX next see how that works!
Fantastic application many thanks.
I've just noticed on one of your screen shots it looks like its showing the album cover art image?
How are you pulling this in? Is it from the WMP11 artcache folder ?
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player\Art Cache\LocalMLS\
Im using the Hi-Res album art technique with the MCE Album Artwork Fixer program and as a result don't have any cached images in this folder. I can't see any artwork appearing in the ngRC UI,
Edit: My user profile on the main VMC PC has a symbolic link that redirects the default Vista Media Center art cache folder C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\eHome\Art Cache to a location on my D:\ drive. However this is the location of all my Hi-Res album cover art.
So if ngRC looks at this location C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\eHome\Art Cache it would presumable show the art work?
Is anyone else seeing artwork in the ngRC UI ?
Danno100: Thanks to everyone. I had to open port 8080 on my Vista Firewall (it was turned on). Once I did that I could open the address from another laptop. I could see my music, but didn't see any video. Perhaps this is because I use shortcuts and don't monitor those folders. I'll also try it on my PDA (Windows Mobile) and my Nokia 700. Looks promising!

I also don't monitor video folders in WMP11 or VMC and use the shortcut method. It seems on the ngRC homepage when you select "My Videos" its just a shortcut that jumps VMC on the PC to the Video library it does not actually allow you to browse your videos on the browser of the hand held device.
This is a seriously cool application kudos to the developer! I'd like to hear more about the iTouch and the Coverflow UI possibility? I don't have an iTouch myself but I have used one and this would be extremely cool if an iTouch skin can be created? That would be a good enough reason to buy an Apple product lol.
Has anyone got this to work on a windows mobile or pocket PC device?
Well you did ask for feedback! On a dual monitor system the focus has to be on the VMC application on the secondary monitor for ngRC to work and for the commands to be carried out. If I am in IE on the primary monitor the remote control on the PSP stops working.
I am also using MCE Multi Mon so VMC is not in full screen mode but windowed mode. This allows the mouse to be moved between the two screens but makes VMC appear to be full screen.I can regain focus back to VMC by clicking the green button on the ngRC remote twice, but that puts VMC in to proper full screen mode and locks the mouse in to it. Not a major issue just something I've noticed.
In addition, correct me if I'm wrong, but is the program keyboard commands or something to Media Center? I keep getting strange keyboard issues (and I have tried this on different machines), where either the print dialog (for e.g.) will suddenly pop up for no reason.
Also, "My Recordings" does not seem to do anything?

If the mouse focus is not on the VMC application and you are clicking buttons on the ngRC remote on the hand held then for example if I am in IE on the other monitor and I click the pause button on the ngRC remote then that opens the print dialog box in IE.
If I click "My Recordings" and the mouse focus is on VMC it takes me to my Recorded TV area of VMC. If the mouse focus is not on the VMC application and I click "My Recordings" and I am in IE for example on the other monitor it opens the File Open dialog box. So it seems the focus must be on VMC or you'll get strange stuff happening in your other opened applications!
Another small navigation issue if I am browsing my music by genre and I pick an album it then shows me the albumdetails, I then click add to playlist, if I then select back in the ngRC UI it takes me right back to the album view where it lists all the albums and not the genre view which I was originally browsing in. Does the same thing in the playlists as well.
Also there is no back option when you go in to a particular genre category, you only see a back option when you then further select an album. So if you change your mind and want another genre you hit the yellow back arrow instead and that takes you right back to the home page.
The status bar at the bottom showing the currently playing song is not always correct alot of the time it doesn't seem to show the current playing song at all just a song you were playing a while ago.
This is by far the best app I have seen for MCE for a long time, so I hope you don't mind this kind of feedback?
Some other things that would be good, if you can add a second icon panel to the remote? Or expand the current one. Perhaps you could have icons for Live TV, Guide, My Movies Add-in, Now Playing + Queue
