Hi Advent... I'm having a few cosmetic issues running the latest version on the final tv pack.
    • I can't run it in Admin mode any longer (no option to do so)
    • It doesn't show any of the titles for the strips (though it allows me to edit them)
    • It has two strips for TV/DVD
    • the check mark buttons disappear when I go to click them
    • It doesn't show OML icon at all and I can't even add it from the entry points
With that being said... I'm still able to workaround it and make it work for my system.  Thank you for such a great addition to MCE!  I don't know how we lived without it!

I'm not sure what you mean by you can't run it in admin mode - it shouldn't be possible to run it NOT as admin. I think what's happening is that you've turned UAC off, so you're not noticing that it's automatically launching as admin now.

Yes, I came across the bug that causes the titles to disappear not long after releasing the last version. Should be fixed in the next version (probably tomorrow).

You should find that there are actually three strips for TV/DVD (one has no items). This is entirely expected for TV Pack 2008 - Media Center keeps three copies of the strip and decides which one to show at runtime. You'll have to work out which one applies to you by trial & error.

Hopefully the next version will resolve your issue with OML, too. Thanks for your reports!

    Advent,

I'm hitting an issue with Adding any entry point (vmcNetflix, WinDVD, etc..) to the tv & movies section (Running TV Pack 2008).

I pm'ed you my support package.

    Any ideas?

Version 0.4.2 is now available from:

    http://rapidshare.com/files/140271184/MC_Menu_Mender_0.4.2.msi

    Changes for this release are:
    • For TV Pack 2008, you can now add multiple 3rd party items to any strip.
    • For TV Pack 2008, custom strips that you create can now contain built-in items - they are effectively the same as any built-in strip.
    • Multiple bug fixes. Hopefully this will help those who have been having difficulties and crashes lately.
I should stress that more than ever this is experimental - use at your own risk. I have had one case in testing where I have caused Media Center to crash, but I haven't managed to pin down the cause yet - if you encounter this, try deleting your custom strips and recreating them.

Cool, just heard about this tool! Nice.
Just a suggestion to try out drop.io to host the file. Free and doesn't make you wait ;)

Advent, thanks for the latest version. It works nicely with TV Pack.

    Couple of observations/questions:

    1. When I am in MCMEnuMender, I see something like 3 TV  Movies strips - One has a lot of items, one has a few less, the third one is empty. (It's not a problem once I get out of MCMM, VMC looks fine.)

    2. What are the two empty rows at the bottom, mentioning Blu-Ray and HDDVD?

I am using Vista 64 bit with TV Pack.

Also, it'd be great to implement a background and font change feature. I have changed my background and font by editing the ehres.dll and Microsoft... Shell.dll, but many wouldn't want to monkey with that.

    Cheers, Musictype.

    1. Yes, this is expected. Media Center actually does have 3 TV & Movies strips - it decides which one to actually show at run time, probably depending on what kind of TV card you have. You'll have to figure out which one is relevant to you by trial & error.

    2. These are auto play strips - i.e. if you add a link to the Auto Play (Blu-ray) strip, that link will be launched when you insert a Blu-ray disc into your HTPC.

I have always left stuff like background images and fonts to other programs like MediaCenterFX. It appears that that is a dead project now though, so who knows...

just tried this app out, absolutly love it...works perfect...what else if anything are you planning on adding??
  •
Ok, first off, this is an awesome app. Thanks

Heres my issue.... I cant seem to get HDDVD's to auto launch PowerDVD8 in VMC.
I have fixed the issue in "auto play" in the control panel, and HDDVD launch in Vista.
But it just wont seem to autolaunch in VMC, am I doing something wrong??
    Please help, thanks.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding, but if you trying to launch HDDVD in PowerDVD 8, you can't. Cyberlink stopped supporting HDDVD in v.8, they support only Bluray.

For HDDVD, you need WinDVD or Arcsoft (which I've never been able to get to work well.)

Advent, I am sure many would appreciate the ability to change background and font:-)

This may not have a solution, but just in case...: When in WinDVD, when I press MENU, it kicks me back to VMC, then it gets into a vicious circle between VMC and WinDVD, always snapping back to VMC. The only way to get out is to manage to click BACK within the split second it shows WinDVD.

Hey all, this is a great tool and has cleaned up my VMC a bunch. I have one issue I can not seem to resolve -- basically on my Linksys 2100, I can not get rid of the custom icon in the TV row.

I have OML in this position and moved it to the custom strip created by myTV. I also have a Weather custom strip.

For some reason, the extender leaves the OML icon in the TV slot, even though it has been moved. It also has it in the myTV custom slot.

When I run VMC it is NOT in this location.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers, Tony.

[apologize if this is a repeat -- my post seemed to have gotten lost]

Ok, great application. Everything seems to work except one issue I have with an extender. Here is my situation:

I attempted to move OML from its custom icon in the TV+Movies strip to the myTV custom strip.

The issue is that is moves fine but on the DMA2100 extenders I have, it leaves it in the TV+Movies slot also. On my VMC PC, it has been moved correctly and does NOT leave this behind.

Any thoughts? A permissions issue perhaps?

I have tried restoring to original setup, and trying it again but to no avail.

With a little fiddling, HDDVD will (does) play with PowerDVD8. I dont have those problems you speak of with VMC and PowerDVD8. It just wont auto load an HDDVD in VMC.

O.K., if you really want to fiddle, this thread may be the answer your autoplay question:

    http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=15687

But that's a purely PowerDVD issue, nothing to do with MC Menu Mender.
