I tried out 32bit Heatwave 1.2.1.0 on my development machine. I like the new widescreen layout. It's the same info, but it does fill up the screen better. So in my opinion, looks better.
I liked it so much, I installed 1.2.1.0 on my 3 other Windows 7 Media Centers.
Thanks again for updating Heatwave.

MCExtendedThanks to zaxxxx I've created a version that may resolve the "spinning ring" issue some people were having: Download the 32-bit version here.Download the 64-bit version here. This version, while not intended as an actual 'release' version, also includes the following features that people have requested and may want to test: A widescreen layout is now included. If you don't like it, it can be disabled in Settings on the Appearance page. There is a day/night (sun/moon) forecast indication next to the location title. If you don't like it, it can be disabled in Settings on the Appearance page. The layout of the main page has been tightened up a bit (the data refresh times have been lost in this version, however will return in a later version) The various times will now be formatted according to the system time format The temperature ranges are now presented in high-low order. You can flip them back to the way they were in Settings on the General page. Changed the formatting of temperature ranges to make negative temperatures more legible As usual, please let me know how you go. Cheers, James.

Great to hear! Thanks again for your help.

You can see this if you have Live TV playing. Unfortunately the way I determine whether a video experience is now playing no longer works the same way in Windows 7 as it did in Vista, so Recorded TV and videos don't show the effect at the moment. This is on the list of things to address.

Yeah, I must say I was silly to resist the idea in the first place - it really is better than I thought it would be. I'll try and be better at listening to feedback about these sort of things in future.
Possibly one of the things that made me resist the idea more than I should have is that I'd never actually used HeatWave on my actual media center until Windows 7 came out (I stayed with 2005 for various reasons). Now that I actually use HeatWave on a large, widescreen TV I better understand why people felt as strongly about this as they did. My ancient development machine only has a non-widescreen aspect ratio, so the only way I'd actually experienced HeatWave in widescreen format prior to Windows 7 was by running it in a window, and when viewed like that it didn't seem like such a big deal.
jcuesicoThanks again for updating Heatwave.
A pleasure. Thanks for your help in testing it, and the helpful feedback you've provided.
Where does Heatwave get it's weather information from? Apologies if this info is already in the 18 pages of posts for this thread. The reason I ask is that Vista4Cast gets bad forecasts for Melbourne, Australia (the fault of the weather source, not the program), so I would like to check out the source for Heatwave before installing it.
Unfortunately for you, it uses weather.com, the same source as Vista4Cast.
You might like to try big screen weather which uses a different source, however it is not free.
Version 1.3 is now available.
This version incorporates the changes from the 1.2.1 test version, and adds a couple of new features and fixes:

Greetings from Germany and Congratulations for this great plugin.
Reading from time to time in TGB this app now causes me to create a user account.
Keep up the good work!
BTW: If you would like to improve your german translation you should substitute the wording "gerecht" with "heiter" which should be the correct term for the english weather condition "fair".

I actually already have Big Screen weather, but yours looked better. So I have to choose accuracy over presentation

I'll add it to the list of things to do, thanks!
Congrats on shipping again -- by far one of the best written apps on the platform.

Thanks very much, Charlie!
With all the cold weather we are currently having in the UK I have noticed that Heatwave does not display 0°C, all I get is °C. It displays fine for sub zero i.e. -1°C, -2°C, etc. just not zero. Is this something to do with my setup or is Heatwave treating 0 as a null value and not displaying it?
Yes, I have the exact same issue on my setup too.
