PS3 Remote Application

This application allows the user the official Sony Playstation 3 BluRay Bluetooth remote control in Vista Media Center to control the interface like any other remote. Although it was not specially built just for Vista Media Center, it comes supplied with the Vista Media Center key-press settings file, so it is ready to use. Eventually the user will be able to create their own key-press settings files and share them.

Current Functionality:

The application is still in the BETA phase, but is functional and it is likely that it will work fine for you, but if you do experience any crashes, please let me know. Here are some of the features that are in the current release:

• Works on both 32-Bit (x86) and 64-Bit (x64) Windows operating systems. (XP & Vista currently supported)
• SMS Text input from the numeral buttons. User can toggle this on & off.
  
• Runs in the tray (no windows apart from when you open the configuration section).
• Configuration section - avaialable from the tray menu!
• Option to repeat action if remote button is held.

Current Limitations:

Here are the limitations that I can think of. If you can think of any others, please let me know!

• The user has the pair the remote manually outside of the program.

Installation:

Here are some quick instructions on how to pair the remote with your computer. This only works if you are using the inbuilt Microsoft stack (bluetooth software)!

1. Make sure you have a Bluetooth adapter for your PC.
2. Go to Control Panel >> Bluetooth Devices and click "Add" a new Bluetooth Device
3. Hold down START + ENTER keys on the PS3 remote to begin the syncing process.
4. Check the box next to "My device is set up and ready to be found", then "Next"
5. Click on "BD Remote Control", and then click "Next"
6. Select "Don't use a passkey", then click "Next".
7. To connect the remote to the computer, press the PLAYSTATION key on the remote.

Now simply use the installer provided to install the program.

Should work on both x86 and x64 versions of Vista using the same installer linked. It works on both XP & Vista

Great, I have downloaded it.

But it seems I have another weird problem.

I am using a Logitech diNovo bluetooth keyboard. And I can´t find where I can add devices at all. There is no trace of any bluetooth device on my system at all. Not anything to do with your software of course, but any ideas? What did I miss?

Does the logitech receiver even allow you to add non-logitech devices? Because I was under the impression that it doesn't. Have a look under: Control Panel -> Bluetooth Devices.

Yes, according to logitech´s faq and such it says so. It says connect to your mobile phone and bla bla bla as a sales pitch with this product but no example of how to do it.

I have had bluetooth earlier on an older PC and then at least I had a choice of setting up bluetooth. Now it´s nothing.

The problem is that there is no Bluetooth choice for me in the control panel. So I can´t add a device.

Running Vista 32 bit Ultimate.

I take it you have tried checking the logitech software? Setpoint IIRC.

Does the receiver register as a Bluetooth device in Device Manager?

EDIT: Didn´t find my phone either, so I will try to get my Bluetooth *** working before giving you more feedback. *:)

What the SetPoint software? - I am surprised you even got the keyboard to work without that software :S

OK. What you do is hold start + enter (on the ps3 remote) together for about 3-5seconds. This will make the remote discoverable.

Then do a search on windows.

So an update. My logitech continued to be a headache and re-registered it as lhid again on restart.

I did however have a Microsoft Bluetooth dongle here too. So I have set that one up and it is working.

Now I get to register the BR remote, but it just disappear again after a short while. *:(

(Doesn´t seem I can upload images here. But I register the device from the Bluetooth Devices that you get from the control panel in Windows. You get to the same window by right clicking on the Bluetooth icon in the tray too.

Any ideas?

Your going to have to run me through the whole process of how you pair the remote with your PC and what happens next because I don't understand whats going on. If you can take screenshots at the important stages, you can upload there here: http://imageshack.us/ and post the links.

I do know what software you are using to pair though. (The inbuilt microsoft one).

Ok.

So the first thing I do is that I fire up the Bluetooth Devices, and in the default active Devices tab that shows in the window I click add.

The "Add Bluetooth Device Wizard appear and I check "My device is set up and ready to be found". Before I click next I hold down START and ENTER on my PS3 remote for a couple of secs.

Bah, lost all my text.

But anyways, here you see my screens.

1) I start the wizard by clicking Add.

2) The the window from my first screenshot appears.

3) I check the "My device is ready check box and click on ENTER and START on my remote for a few secs before clicking next.

4) My remote shows up as in screenshot number 2.

5) I click on it to select it before clicking Next.

6) The passkey window appear and I choose not to use any and click next as shown in screenshot 3.

7) It seemingly connects with the device and install it as shown in screenshot 4.

8) The finish wizard window appears and I click Finish.

9) And you can see in screen 5 it shows in the device list. I click Ok and the window closes.

10) now if I open the Bluetooth Device list again you can see that the remote is gone but my cell phone is still there.

Somehow it seems the remote is not holding it´s connection.
