Nah... you not cheap... You are working with the solution that makes the most sense... Note: The 2.3 version is free... The difference that I have seen is that you don't have to select INFO then Transcode for the file to start streaming... Also, There's a GUI so that you can play with the various transcoding options...
leonowski:vader504's transcoder also uses mencoder so these tweaks would also work. The only difference would be if you had access to change the switches passed to the mencoder.exe command.Since I'm a frugal person (AKA cheap ***), I stuck with transcode360. :)
Hi ColeAudio,
If I'm honest I have made several tweaks and changes to address a few bugs as I use a MCE Extender in my front room and bedroom to play my media content, therefore streaming and transcoding are a very high priority.
As I am running Vista Ultimate 64, I downloaded the latest 64bit drivers for FFDshow and FFmpeg.I changed from using the mencode_mt from the PS3 media server download to the newer version at http://kovensky.project357.com/.
So Mkv sync seems to be fine 95% of the time and Avi's and Mpegs are absolutely fine, after upgrading to the latest ffmpeg and ffdshow I am also able to stream .mov HD trailer content using the HD Trailer plugin.
All in all it's working very well, I not 100% sure I have fixed the mkv syne totally but it's certainly watchable.

AndresE:Are you guys using Windows 7? If so which version of Transcode360 are you using and where did you download it from? I keep getting an "unable to queue video file for transcoding and streaming” error every time I try to use Transcode360.

Has anyone else run into issues with incorrect video length? So I'm running Win7 with T360 1.6.3.0, current ffmpeg and mencoder. After much research, I have made the recommended changes to the .cs file and the reg change to network, etc..
For the most part, it runs fantastic. I just run into some movies having the incorrect video length and it cuts off the end.
I am referring to straight DVD backups in std VOB format. I have checked the IFO files and the length is correct. They play fine straight from the media machine, just not streaming to the 360 via t360. Again, this is just some and probably the majority are fine.
Disregard my last post. I seem to have corrected the issue. I'm not sure exactly how and don't recall every change that I made. However one item I do remember is the InstallationType reg edit I changed to WindowsApplication from Network and it is working much better now. During all my research on getting T360 to work I have come across references to both settings. I guess WindowsApplication works better for my setup.
Quick question, if you have windows 7 why do are you bothering with another transcoding solution? MKV's will play directly through an Xbox if you the Divx Tech Preview installed. In respect of DVD's it's fairly easy to put them into DVRMS container or just play the individual VOB files.
I have not had much luck with MKVs. The quality is bad and sound is usually out of synch. Streaming straight HD quality AVIs to the 360 is much better. Then I use transcoder360 for straight up backed up DVDs in its original VOB file format and it works great.

Sounds like windows 7 is transcoding instead of simply allowing the steam to be split. Are you sure you have the latest Divx Tech Preview? Furthermore if you have installed "codec packs" then that can cause mayhem and may break it. MKV's should look perfect on the xbox.
