Wow, this is like a start of a dream come true.... I posted this in the Windows 7 3rd party apps, this is what would be my dream... If this could be automated to do something like this, it would be the dream.
DavidinCT I've said it before and will say it again. A DVD ripping wizard in Media Center basily DVDFAB or something that could be done in Media Center with the remote. Setup of program, list folders for movies and DVD rips (maybe a ini or something to set default folders). 1. Put in DVD (or Blu-ray), start program, It checks out the disc (confirms if copy protected or not), tells you what movie, confirm that it's the movie and that it can rip it (rip folder based on movie locations, DVDXML setup and folder.jpg), Also show space left on drive, so to make sure you have room to rip. 2. NEXT: Ask: main movie or whole disc (do you want all the extra features or just the movie?) 3. NEXT: Ask: Audio format (DD or DTS depending on what is on the disc), skip for whole disc option. 4. NEXT: Ask: Video format, VOB (strait rip) or convert to another format and quality (100% 75% or 50% of video quality depending on codecs and show estimated file size). 5. NEXT: Ask: Confirm settings (list all setttings made to confirm), Folder to rip to, and estimated time with an option to do in the background (rip in the background and give pop up message when completed) I'm not asking for a program to break copy protection, so there will not be any trouble with the Movie people and that most people would need ANYDVD installed for it to fully work with titles but I think this is a needed program for media center....

Have not tried this yet, but is it possible to just rip the movies w/o using Handbrake to convert? I would like to see just the VIDEO_TS ripped.
Does this maintain the forced subtitles?
+1 here, I would like to use this without the Handbrake conversion.
I think the compress=yes/no option does exactly that. If you put compress=no then it just leaves the rip alone and does not covert/compress.
Roy
That is correct. If you set Compress=No it will skip the Handbrake compression and will just leave the VIDEO_TS fully intact. It does only rip the Main Movie. If there are some who would want to rip the entire disk I can add that as an option too.
I haven't looked into this yet. As I'm not usually a subtitle guy. I'd have to see how this works first.
Thanks for the suggestion.
EDIT: I see that you said "forced subtitles" - I'm assuming you mean only display subtitles for short foreign language segments and leave the subtitles off for the rest. I see that is an option with Handbrake and I'll see if I can add that to the program.
I would very much like to see an option to rip the full disk including chapters! Thanks!!
pete1122 I would very much like to see an option to rip the full disk including chapters! Thanks!!
I've used DVDfab a lot in the past, if he rips the main movie and does not touch the VOB files (compression), it should keep chapter info....as it does with all the movies I rip with DVDfab...
I always just rip the main movie, am I that lasy if I want to see all the extras I cant grab the disc ?

How about audio ? Will it always rip it with 5.1 (I've used DVDfab in the past and some movies by default are 2.0 and have to select the 5.1 track)
Download link seems to be incorrect and/or down. Can you check out the link?
Sorry... should work now....
I added Version 1.03 to the first post. Version 1.03 adds a user friendly settings interface so you don't have to mess with the ini file.
I'm also working with mikinho to integrate YAMMM with the program!
