    Known Problems:

Resuming of WTV files does not work in the movie library.  It is a bug with Windows Media Center.
I wrote a Media Center plugin to fix that problem. You can purchase it for $4.99 from here: http://bit.ly/cFUG61
    Thanks for your support!

    Change Log:

    Version 2.21

    • Added support for DVDFab version 8

    Version 2.20

    • Added support for Handbrake 0.9.5 including support for compressing from Blu-ray structure using AnyDVD or DVDFab.
    • Other bug fixes.

    Version 2.14

    • Several bug fixes.
    • Removed audio language selection due to licensing issue.

    Version 2.13.1

    • Fixed problem with automatic movie title when not using GD3 for lookups & metadata.

    Version 2.13

    • Added option to choose a default audio language when possible.
    • Added a wtv queue so todvrms didn't crash if there was already a wtv conversion in progress.
    • Added ability to start a rip on an extender (need to insert disc on HTPC) and it will process on the HTPC so if you shut the extender down it will continue to work.
    • Added option to rip a Blu-ray to ISO format when using DVDFab.
    • Removed compression options for Blu-ray when using DVDFab as Handbrake doesn't support native Blu-ray structure.
    • No longer need a DriveID when using MakeMKV. Auto Rip n Compress will detect it automatically.
    • Fixed other small bugs.

    Version 2.12

    • Added option to choose English or French for the user interface.
    • Fixed problem with DVDFab 7.
    • Added option to eject or not eject the disc after ripping.
    • Added check for internet connection so application won't crash if internet is not available.
    • Fixed other small bugs.

    Version 2.11

    • MakeMKV will now rip only the main title instead of the full disc when you are using GD3 metadata. (It grabs the running time from the metadata and sets the minimum tilte length to 5 minutes less than running time).
    • Fixed problem with pass-through DTS audio when compressing.

    Version 2.10

    • Added rip progress for MakeMKV (requires version 1.5.0 or later)
    • Removed problematic automatic title selction on DVDs for MakeMKV (Does it after the disc is ripped instead).
    • Fixed a couple of bugs when ripping with MakeMKV.

    Version 2.09 Beta

    • Rip Profiles for both DVD and Blu-ray
    • MakeMKV to WTV
    • Blu-ray DTS to AC3 from MakeMKV
    • Since WTV does not support VC1 video, if going from Blu-ray to uncompressed wtv when Blu-ray has VC1 video format it will use Handbrake at a high quality and convert to h.264 first.
    • Blu-ray compress to 1080P (Default), 720P, 480P
    • Fixed crash of program if not in focus when finished rip dialog appears
    • Added option to retain original rip (Does not work with certain AnyDVD options because they process right off the disc)
    • Added option to show dialog or not show dialog when rip finishes
    • Automatically refreshes when disc is ejected or inserted.
    • MakeMKV: Auto calculates main movie for DVD's and only rips that instead of full disc.
    • Added options for different compression rates: Automatic, Choose Target Size, High Quality, Medium Quality, Low Quality - last 3 are configurable in CustomSettings.ini
    • Updated todvrms to 1.01.4
    • Added abilty to add custom arguments to Handbrake and ToDVRMS if needed.  (Most likely you will not need these, but if you do just ask and I'll fill you in)
    • A lot of little stuff!

    Version 2.08

    • Added output option of mpg
    • Fixed some small bugs

    Version 2.07

    • Added automatically stop and refresh disc (only when Auto Rip n Compress is open) - only works when DVD autoplays.
    • Added option to rip inserted disc automatically. (Works well in conjunction with above option so you can simply load discs in the tray when last one is ejected)
    • Fixed crash when starting program when certain discs are inserted.

    Version 2.06

    • Possibly fixed issues with metadata on extenders.
    • No longer require ImgBurn for DVDs (Blu-rays still require ImgBurn)
    • Added notifications when disc is finished ripping (will automatically dismiss after a couple of seconds)
    • Change text to "No Disc in Drive", removed cover art, & plot when finished ripping.
    • Other smaller changes....

    Version 2.05

    • Made Movie Title box shorter to accommodate 16:10 screens.
    • Change metadata to show production year instead of release date.
    • Possibly fixed metadata problem on extenders.
    • Added a loading screen. Will still be a little slow if disc is still spinning up.

    Version 2.04

    • Added GD3 automatic lookups, metadata, & cover art
    • Added support for outputting to ISO, uncompressed wtv, m4v, compressed wtv
    • Compression queue processes in order now
    • Better Blu-ray support
    • AnyDVD ripping status %
    • Moving status %
    • Almost all settings inside of Media Center
    • Option in Media Center Settings to add to disc autoplay menu (Requires administrative rights! If current user does not have administrative rights run Media Center as administrator to change this setting.)
    • Default option of keeping original in temporary directory while compressing - The main reason for this is because Media Center doesn't usually properly dispose its DVD playing session so if you watched the ripped copy while it was compressing then it could not delete the ripped copy unless you closed out of Media Center (or maybe played another DVD.. I'm not sure). The other reason for this is if you store your movies on another drive or on the network somewhere it will reduce unnecessary moving.
    • Added support for ripping with MakeMKV (should work well... It is still in beta and I have witnessed it crashing on my machine while testing.  This only has occurred at the beginning of the rip so I added a monitor to check to see if it crashed) This does not have any status monitor at this time.
    • Changed the way I called DVDFab so some Blu-rays may be supported (have not tested yet...)  Can someone get me the text in the error message that you get if the Blu-ray protection is not supported so I can monitor for it?  Thanks!
    • Status on the tooltip so you can see what is going on if you are using the program without Media Center open.
    • Browse buttons in the main settings program so you don't have to manually enter paths.
    • Other smaller changes....

    Version 2.01

    • Moved all Settings and Status files to C:\ProgramData\ to fix problems with administrative privileges.

    Version 2.0

    • Converted to Media Center addin.
    • Added Current Status.
    • Added option to rip to subfolder. (For things such as Genres)
    • Fixed FullDisc ripping problem.
    • Added AnyDVD ripping support.
    • Automatically detects location of DVDFab.

Auto Rip n Compress - Rip your Blu-Rays/DVDs to WTV & Many Other Formats Automatically!
Fix the resume problem with WTV files in the default movie library.

Wow, this is like a start of a dream come true.... I posted this in the Windows 7 3rd party apps, this is what would be my dream... If this could be automated to do something like this, it would be the dream.

    DavidinCT

I've said it before and will say it again. A DVD ripping wizard in Media Center basily DVDFAB or something that could be done in Media Center with the remote.

Setup of program, list folders for movies and DVD rips (maybe a ini or something to set default folders).

    1. Put in DVD (or Blu-ray), start program, It checks out the disc (confirms if copy protected or not), tells you what movie, confirm that it's the movie and that it can rip it (rip folder based on movie locations, DVDXML setup and folder.jpg), Also show space left on drive, so to make sure you have room to rip.

    2. NEXT: Ask: main movie or whole disc (do you want all the extra features or just the movie?)

    3. NEXT: Ask: Audio format (DD or DTS depending on what is on the disc), skip for whole disc option.

    4. NEXT: Ask: Video format, VOB (strait rip) or convert to another format and quality (100% 75% or 50% of video quality depending on codecs and show estimated file size).

    5. NEXT: Ask: Confirm settings (list all setttings made to confirm), Folder to rip to, and estimated time with an option to do in the background (rip in the background and give pop up message when completed)

I'm not asking for a program to break copy protection, so there will not be any trouble with the Movie people and that most people would need ANYDVD installed for it to fully work with titles but I think this is a needed program for media center....

@eMpTy3000- Let me know if you want to use a Yammm function to get the movie title so the user won't have to enter that. Or at least default it

Have not tried this yet, but is it possible to just rip the movies w/o using Handbrake to convert?  I would like to see just the VIDEO_TS ripped.

Does this maintain the forced subtitles?

  •

+1 here, I would like to use this without the Handbrake conversion.

I think the compress=yes/no option does exactly that.  If you put compress=no then it just leaves the rip alone and does not covert/compress.

  •

That is correct. If you set Compress=No it will skip the Handbrake compression and will just leave the VIDEO_TS fully intact.  It does only rip the Main Movie.  If there are some who would want to rip the entire disk I can add that as an option too.

I haven't looked into this yet.  As I'm not usually a subtitle guy.  I'd have to see how this works first.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

EDIT: I see that you said "forced subtitles" - I'm assuming you mean only display subtitles for short foreign language segments and leave the subtitles off for the rest.  I see that is an option with Handbrake and I'll see if I can add that to the program.

I would very much like to see an option to rip the full disk including chapters!  Thanks!!

I've used DVDfab a lot in the past, if he rips the main movie and does not touch the VOB files (compression), it should keep chapter info....as it does with all the movies I rip with DVDfab...

I always just rip the main movie, am I that lasy if I want to see all the extras I cant grab the disc ?

That is correct. If you set Compress=No it will skip the Handbrake compression and will just leave the VIDEO_TS fully intact.  It does only rip the Main Movie.  If there are some who would want to rip the entire disk I can add that as an option too.

How about audio ? Will it always rip it with 5.1 (I've used DVDfab in the past and some movies by default are 2.0 and have to select the 5.1 track)

I added Version 1.03 to the first post.  Version 1.03 adds a user friendly settings interface so you don't have to mess with the ini file.
