I'm looking for an app/add in that does voice control. I looked at One Voice MCC but couldn't get a trial download copy to install properly- I don't thinks its W7 compatible. No luck with their non-existent support line/vmail.

    Any other ideas? Thanks muchly.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 have excellent built-in speech recognition technology. Go to Control Panel->Ease of Access->Speech Recognition.  You can drive the Windows UI and many software programs through this, though I have no tried it with WMC.

Wow, I never even thought of this.  If someone tries it, let us know how it worked.

Haha, makes me want to embed some creatively designed commercials or "malformed content" and sneak it into network television broadcast.... so I can take over your computer with my voice commands.... you know.. launch a web browser and browse to a site I created to spawn off all kinds of revenue generating advertisements.  Don't worry, I won't push up any malware.... unless someone offers me enough money.

The next time you're watching some "hacker" movie or CSI episode where the actors are reading off commands on a computer screen... look out!

I will definitely give it a try and write back in a few days. I am most interested in how it will work with my MC7 Boxee plug-in, since there is so much typing that can be done (i.e. YouTube, Pandora, etc. searches) -- could be really cool. I only wish that the Logitec Harmony One I just bought had a microphone embedded in it.

I decided to try it tonight... unfortunately when in my Boxee plug in, the voice recognition does not interpret my speech correctly and types in strange things or nothing at all.

Also, the scroll up and scroll down work fine but scroll left and right are flakey at best.  The enter command works fine as well, but as a whole I think it would be very difficult to control using only voice... would definitely want a remote of some sort as the commands definitely take longer to say than to press a key: e.g. "scroll down, scroll down, scroll down" certainly takes longer than click click click.

Went to movie library and tried saying a letter or word and it didn't work... "what was that?"

Also, couldn't figure out the all important back button key work.

The latest versions of IRSS have voice recognition in them.

I've tried One Voice this week (the demo from their website installed fine), but it's not recognizing very well. Maybe it just needs more training or my English isn't good enough. I was just looking for alternative, but the ones like Amulet or Speaky use a remote with a microphone. But my idea was to not touch the remote at all: when I must hold a remote to speak, I can just as easily navigate using the remote.

And I don't think the Windows Speech Recognition is very usefull. I guess it only knows the 'default' commands like 'up', 'down', 'left, 'enter', etc.. That way you still have to navigate through all the MC-menu's to find what you're looking for. One Voice has commands like 'Play Artist ' which work from whatever menu you're in.

Does anyone know other alternatives like One Voice?

I'm more interested in this Boxee MC7 plugin? Is this something more than an entry point within media center?

I have media center communicator 3.0 running on windows 7.

I am still looking for a mic that can screen out tv and music backgroung sound,

    and has a better range.

The shortcut on the start menu doesn't work.

You need to right click it and click properties.

Change the target to the executable in program files.

    Should be something like C:\Program Files\OneVoice technologies\media center communicator\

    OVDesktop.exe.

That shortcut can be placed in the startup folder to start with windows.

The command for tv is watch tv,not live tv.

    Radio command is FM radio.

Under user accounts, select default user and do some training,it works better.

Do it for any user account you are going to use.

Hi leroys1000. I started using the One Voice trial a couple of days ago too. Some of its great but things I have found are: - Getting it to understand me saying "start dictation" so that I can fill in an email is very hard unless I try to put on an American accent :o) - Cant actually SEND the email without clicking on the Send button (actually havent seen the send button so not sure if thats locked down as its a trail version)? - Scrolling up and down the menus seems arduous. You have to say 'One Voice - Arrow up' each time you want to move up. Be good if you could use words like 'One Voice - Arrow up TWICE' Do you know if its possible to change the default commands? I know you can add your own ones but can you change the existing ones so that it can learn your voice? Be good to see a FULL list of commands that it accepts. Seen the help file but I think there are more commands to it than that.
