Is there a DVRMSToolbox setup using Comskip for Dummies out there anywhere?
Fall season is gearing up and I've finally decided to try and cut commercials automatically.
Reloading & rebuilding my primary mediacenter ahead of ceton, so I figured this would be the time to implement. I just downloaded the 1.2.2(?) version and installed it; but, there's a crap-load of options! I just want it to run as a service, watch my recorded tv folder, and cut the commercials. The easiest way to accomplish this will be okay with me. If that means converting to DVR-MS or WMV, I'm okay with that too. As long as it can be fully automatic.
I'd prefer to "hold-on" to the original WTVs until I'm comfortable this setup will work correctly & reliably.
Any help? Thanks!

OMG-- Wow, do I feel stupid for not checking there too, first. Sad, I even read that when it was first published!
Thanks man!
To add, I think I am right in saying comskip will not work with .wtv files. You have to use SA.
[edit] and if you record any copy once stuff, it will not get scanned.
Okay, so I think I got everything installed and working--but, I'm not very impressed so far. I'm sure it's with my settings; but, right now it seems to be missing segments.
Does it work better/more consistent on ATSC/QAM/Digital recordings vs Analog stuff? And, same question regarding cartoons vs non-cartoons?
I have a set-to-box connected with svideo on top of my digital stuff. Those don't seem to be doing well. Any tweaks suggestions?
I'm in NZ and gave up on SA after it consistently found nothing. I use comskip by first converting to TS using the program in this thread:
http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/p/61538/476249.aspx
I then delete the TS file after comskip has finished. You'll need the donators version of comskip is you are working with HD files
If you're not into the advanced, 'spockers' @ Dragon Globals' website released his config file that works wonders to the default SA settings. More info here. Use Show Analyzer 1.1.0.825 then grab the 'Default.saconfig' file and paste it to "C:\Users\All Users\Dragon Global\ShowAnalyzerSuite\Settings". It's not 100% for me but damn close and I didn't have to put much thought into anything... I'm using an InfiniTV.
Thanks Sheppy for the reply. I dont think I'll go the route you took--but I'm glad you sent the link nonetheless! That WTV Converter looks pretty handy!
Stone--Thank you. I'll take a look. I'm "assuming" the defaults are going to work fine on normal ATSC/QAM broadcast shows (ie, prime-time TV). I'm just trying to tweak the non-typical programming & analog inputs. Hopefully the Default.saconfig file will be enough to help with that.
